Nobody in the world, nobody in history, has ever gotten their freedom by appealing to the moral sense of the people who were oppressing them. Once you study and really get a good understanding of the way the system in the United States works, then you see, without a doubt, that the civil rights movement never had a chance of succeeding. White people, whether they are from the North or from the South, whether it was in 1960 or 1980, benefit from the oppression of Black people. [...] The almighty dollar is king; those who have the most money control the country and, through campaign contributions, buy and sell presidents, congressmen, and judges, the ones who pass the laws and enforce the laws that benefit their benefactors. The rich have always used racism to maintain power. To hate someone, to discriminate against them, and to attack them because of their racial characteristics is one of the most primitive, reactionary, ignorant ways of thinking that exists.

Before you do the normal human thing and integrate this into your understanding of the world and start psychologically moving on, you should really look into your state’s requirements for becoming armed and then. Seriously consider doing that
When her son died in utero, a venture capitalist went to extremes to punish her surrogate.
Whatever loophole existed, Bi would find it. If Smith relaxed, she would take advantage. “The only goal she had was to destroy my life,” Smith wrote in a court document: to get her fired from her job so she couldn’t support her son. To have her behind bars. To bankrupt her. To make it so Smith could never be at peace while Leon was dead.
This is an incredibly compelling piece of surrogacy-critical journalism. You should read it. Some things it touches on:
The US is a world leader in both surrogacy and maternal mortality rates.
Surrogates are at higher risk of serious medical complications in pregnancy than mothers who are genetically related to their pregnancy. This is rarely highlighted to potential surrogates by agencies.
Commissioning parents are not required to disclose family medical history that may put the surrogate at an even greater increased risk of complications.
Surrogates have extremely limited recourse when commissioning parents break contracts, violate their privacy, or become abusive. If a surrogate breaks a contract, the commissioning parents can stop paying her. No matter what, they get the baby at the end. Anything otherwise is considered human trafficking.
yeah quitting a fruity relaxation machine that you can hit basically anywhere and has the equivalent of 40 packs worth of nicotine is in fact way harder than quitting cigs was ten years ago. I’m having a really bad fucking time rn

Social murder is a term coined by Friedrich Engels in 1845 in one of his seminal works, The Conditions of the Working Class in England. Engels was Karl Marx’s close friend and collaborator, co-authoring some of the most influential works that stimulated worker revolutions across the world. Engels writes:
“When one individual inflicts bodily injury upon another such that death results, we call the deed manslaughter; when the assailant knew in advance that the injury would be fatal, we call his deed murder. But when society places hundreds of proletarians in such a position that they inevitably meet a too early and an unnatural death, one which is quite as much a death by violence as that by the sword or bullet; when it deprives thousands of the necessaries of life, places them under conditions in which they cannot live – forces them, through the strong arm of the law, to remain in such conditions until that death ensues which is the inevitable consequence – knows that these thousands of victims must perish, and yet permits these conditions to remain, its deed is murder just as surely as the deed of the single individual; disguised, malicious murder, murder against which none can defend himself, which does not seem what it is, because no man sees the murderer, because the death of the victim seems a natural one, since the offence is more one of omission than of commission. But murder it remains.”
I repped my March deadlift ORM yesterday (205 for 4!) and I can bench Literally 2.25x my ORM from last year. Meanwhile I'm squatting basically exactly the same.
I injured myself doing this weight the very next week and now I can only rep 175 :)
This is what I’ve been doing instead. For the record, every other med school took diversity or equity language out of their application essays this year because they’re cowards and RUSH ADDED this one
It’s been a while but my lat development over the last ~6 months of consistency is the only thing I have going for me rn
