Cute . He really did love seeing the way Kairi had become so much more open with what she wanted when they were alone like this. A hand came to run through her hair before lips found her forehead, arm squeezing around her as he lingered for a short while.
" 'm lookin' forward ta seein' what'cha've been workin' so hard on all this time . Ya've been pretty damn secretive , li'l lady ~ "
"Hey, it's a really special surprise. I wanna see your reaction when the tempo's perfect." Her own music pun gives a rare laugh from Kairi, mismatched eyes glancing up at him. Kairi truly hasn't felt loved or safe in a long time, that being in his arms? She finally feels at peace.
"I hope you don't get jealous, because you know I always make time for you the second I know you're free."

" Nah , yer fine babe ~ " No sooner had she settled upon his lap did an arm wrap itself around her waist, bringing her against his chest as his phone was set aside. " Didn't think ya'd just jump on m' lap like that , though ~ "
Just cuddling up to him in his lap made her cheeks pink from the sweet warmth, cuddling her cheek against his chest as short purple hair sprawls across.
"I kept thinking of you for my little surprise, so...I guess it made me needy, ya know?" Rather funny given that Kairi's never found herself feeling needy before.
He's just boredly doomscrolling on his phone, leaning back against the pillows, lap completely empty.
"I'm not late, am I? I had a little surprise I was working on." Mainly a song to root for him during the world cup, scooting in to sit on his lap.

If anyone needs him, he's going to be laying in the dark ... Massive headache ...
Checking in on him, Kairi already comes to his side with painkillers and hot tea.
"Hey, don't push yourself." Her voice speaks quietly to ensure she's not making his headache worse.
Just the way she looked up at him as they reached their destination - beneath a large, old Asiatic apple tree - was enough to have the Colonel feel like he was floating even without his Evol.
" At least have a little bit to eat before ya get too distracted . " Free hand playfully pinched her cheek before another kiss was given, this time to her forehead. " That was the whole point of us comin' out here , wasn't it ? "
An apple tree like this fills Mirai with nostalgia, not just for when they were kids, but the times she remembers sneaking off to carve her and Caleb's names into a tree like this as though a silent plea that they'd be together forever.
"It's your cooking, so I couldn't resist in the slightest." Smiling into the playful pinch, honey eyes looking lovingly at him before setting up the picnic blanket. "Just think, after we can cuddle under the stars once the sun sets too. Maybe we'll see a shooting star!"
" Were you readin' my mind , Pips ? " Damn it, Mirai was adorable , wasn't she? Hand squeezed hers as he tugged her that little bit closer, leaning over to kiss the top of her head. " What if I told you that you're prettier than any sunset could ever be ? "
"Maybe I was!" The hunter's voice happily laughs as she hugs Caleb's waist with her arm, chin resting atop his muscular chest just to admire this smiling look on his face that only she gets to see.
Cheeks blushing, she cuddles her cheek against him, unable to hide her laughter. "I'd end up kissing you so much that our picnic would spoil~"
" C'mon , I know the best spot to watch the sunset ! "
"Any place is the best spot to watch if it's with you, dummy." Mirai's smile brightens as her hand holds tightly to his, picnic basket in the other.
"Hmmm...Not until you guys get a room."
