Poison takes a moment to breathe, swiping a hand through their hair and assessing what pain was theirs, and what was coming from Spades. There wasn’t any real pain, just soreness from sparring with eachother.

“You doin’ okay, wildcard? I know that back stiffness isn’t-… isn’t mine…”

Spades takes a deep breath, turning slightly to face Poison after a nod. "Yeah, tha's mine...'m fine, jus' tired from goin' against this thing."

Vaguely pointing to their back, to the metal contraption and the scars from the horror, they smile at Poison. Before long they close their eyes and focus, reading into the soreness and tightness throughout them, pushing their own back for a moment.

"Are...yer shoulders achin' again?"

It burns, searing into their brain and disabling the functions necessary to respond. The best they can do is shake their head, which is dropped between their shoulders and hanging toward the desert sand.

It comes in waves, pulsing and surging with each passing moment as black encircles their vision. These feelings, emerging like tidal waves and forcing them to bob with each surge, treading water while fending off a riptide. It nearly drags them under, nearly blasts the doors to the others' rooms off. Would blacking out help?

That's an answer they're determined not to find out. They focus on their breaths, forcing themself to hold and try to slow their heart; forcing themself to take the pain and minimize it for Poison; forcing themself to swallow their fears and pain and take the blows time and time again so no one else has to. The memory fades as they focus, grounding themself in the numbing tingling crawling through their limbs. No one else deserves this, especially not Poison.

Slowly, they put a hand on top of Poison's, cracking one eye open as they roll their shoulders through the pain and square up as it stops. "Poison? Su-nt...sunt chiar aici..."
