2026 Aquarius Full Moon

The key phrases for the Full lunar phase are “culminate, fulfill, illumine, manifest;” and “pour all our energy and efforts into our intentions.”

This is an intense one, all right. Note the exact conjunction of the Sun and Jupiter - opposite the Moon very closely conjujnct Juno Rx and Pluto Rx. All are in close flowing aspects to Uranus/Gemini and Neptune Rx/Aries, thus connecting us strongly to the current zeitgeist.

With Juno Rx contributing, there are a couple of different ways this could manifest:

I also want to point out that Sun-Jupiter sits precisely at the midpoint of an exact square between Venus/Virgo and Mars/Gemini - a “double semi-square” of irritation and difficult (if not impossible) resolution. Venus square Mars in Mutable signs points to a “new” situation that’s going to be easier to deal with now, as opposed to “later on.” Yet the Aquarius Moon is sesquiquad both Venus and Mars. Our timing is off. (For now!)

The typical Mutable problems usually stem from commitment phobia. Due to Mercury’s connection to Gemini and Virgo, there’s also a hint of “can’t see the forest for the trees.” Where are Venus and Mars transiting in your birth chart? There you’ll discover the clues.

The rest of the Moon’s trip through Aquarius isn’t quite so intense, especially if you’re okay with thinking things over in (relative) solitude. We’re also okay with bouncing ideas off of trusted allies.

The Moon is void of course starting Thursday, July 30, at 21:27 UTC; and ending Friday, July 31, at 12:14 UTC. (Just over 14 hours - a piece of cake!) Try to stay away from the internet; we’re bad at getting “tone of voice” right during this time.

After the Moon enters Pisces, it’s still unsettled. Surprises leave us feeling off-kilter, and we can get lost in the drama of the moment rather than dealing with the real issues. aries: saturn goes retrograde in your sign this week. last time, the retrograde took it back into pisces. this time, not so. you are keeping saturn for a while yet. so this station affects you pretty deeply, and you're meant to restore or establish some level of self-discipline. not your favorite, but in the end it makes your life better, ok?

taurus: this week features the last full moon before eclipse season. and while it is not itself an eclipse, it is undeniably intense, and involves your fellow fixed signs aquarius + leo, plus heavy hitting planets jupiter + pluto. expect tumult, weather it with grace, and do the small things that you can do instead of giving up, because they add up to big things.

gemini: something puts your home life in a difficult position. that could range from needed repairs and maintenance to a new roommate to strife with family of origin. it will need to be managed (ie not ignored) but don't harp on it too much and it will pass more easily than you might expect.

cancerians: this full moon is, frankly, a lot. you're no stranger to emotions, but other people aren't so deft with them. be prepared for others to find you perhaps a bit overwhelming, and for them to be much more highly strung than usual.

leo: a full moon this week is not an eclipse but kind of feels like one, and may act as a harbinger for the upcoming (very soon) eclipse season. but it involves you in a quite direct manner. you and your relationships. so don't expect predictability, and remain flexible.

virgo: venus square ceres along with this week's plutonic full moon can have you questioning yourself, how others see you, and how that affects your life. don't worry about it too much. demolitions to the reputation are not as permanent as they seem and they make more room for you to grow in.

libra: you may find yourself more frazzled than others are this week but at least you have your trademark poise to lean on. others don't see you as so frenetic. you don't have to tell them, either.

scorpio: it is worth noting that this week's full moon is intensely emotional and deep - these are not small feelings. and also, the consequences of this full moon may be longer-lasting than some. it's ok, and encouraged, to have a good time, but don't do it in an attempt to avoid confronting those feelings.

sagittarius: often you happily frolic through a full moon without too much upheaval. this week, the full moon occurs with the sun on jupiter. that's your ruling planet. so these are big emotions - and they might be happy ones! but pluto is also involved, conjoined with the moon itself. you're not exactly a stranger to deep thought, but deep feeling may come less naturally to you. resist the urge to intellectualize those deep emotions.

capricorn: most people will experience saturn stationing retrograde as background noise. for some it is even imperceptible. probably not so for you, as that's your planetary ruler. areas where you have been less than diligent become starkly revealed. however, where you have put in the good effort, a reward may be on the horizon.

The Evolution of Leo

Undeveloped Leos are playful and fun-loving but self-centered and oblivious to the needs of others. They are not incapable of understanding others; they just don’t bother to try at this stage in their evolution. They are narcissistic—enthralled and enamored with themselves and their abilities. Maybe this is necessary. If it were otherwise, they might not invest time and energy in self-development and self-expression. And this, after all, is what this sign is all about. Out of preoccupation with themselves and the desire for attention and power, they seek the spotlight. Once in the spotlight, they must perform! Thus, slowly, over many lifetimes with this sign, their creative and expressive talents develop. The drive to perform and express themselves is all part of the plan of self-development and, more specifically, ego development. Happy Leo season! This is (in the northern hemisphere) the Sun’s time to shine. “Fixed Fire” is an accurate description of the overall weather pattern up here. With the imminent shift of the (mean) Lunar Nodes into the Aquarius/Leo axis, occurring on August 18, it becomes a little more serious.

One way to describe the Aquarius-Leo polarity is as a balancing act between being part of a constellation (oh, let’s say, Ursa Minor), and a star in your own right (Polaris). They’re both valuable - but Polaris has been for millennia a fixed point for us Earthlings, by whose means we can navigate the globe. By itself, though, Polaris is fairly nondescript and mediocre. If we don’t know exactly where to look for it, we need to use a couple other stars in a different constellation (Ursa Major) to find it.

With Pluto occupying Aquarius until 2044 or so (the year Ms M turns 86 😳) - and with the Nodes across that axis in 2026, 2027, and 2036 (across Leo-Aquarius) that balancing act will be revisited annually. In 2026 and 2027, we need to look at using the Leo parts (South Node) to reach out for the Aquarius parts (North Node).

The upcoming Full Moon in Leo (July 29) is going to be especially intense with this - and the Leo New Moon on August 12 is, of course, a New Moon/Solar Eclipse. Weirdly, there is a lot of bird/chicken imagery, with both lunations, bringing to mind certain US-English poultry similes, metaphors, and cliches:

aries: both leo season, which kicks off this week, and mercury direct upcoming shortly thereafter, bode well indeed for your sign. family time and work-life balance (or slightly weighted toward the "life" end) are best uses of your time now.

taurus: if you can, a little time with your family of origin and especially siblings or cousins is auspicious all week! very auspicious, in likely unexpected ways. and if you can't, a chosen family will do!

gemini: this is the week that your ruling planet goes direct again! any financial woes and even some tech and communication glitches should be easing up from here on out.

aries: even with mercury retrograde (although do proceed with caution) it is a good week to get a roommate, move house, or just do some deep cleaning at home. but a freshening up of your physical abode is called for one way or another.

taurus: if you have siblings or cousins it can be good to reach out to them around the new moon later this week, or you may hear from them soon. this is likely to be a pleasant, even fortuitous encounter.

gemini: start planning your financial and material intentions today, and implement those plans with the new moon for fruitful results. things may not go as you expect, but at least you have opened the channels and will be able to see the road forward.

cancerians: this can be a great time to re-invent yourself or work on your self image. a new moon in your sign is a little bit like a personal new year and accordingly it can be wise to make personal resolutions.

aries: focusing on your daily routine (improving it, refining it, starting it over...) keeps your identity on track even if this week's astrology shakes up your self concept or confidence a bit.

taurus: venus into virgo is fertile, fun, and flirty for you so make the most of it! if you're not feeling sociable or romantic the fun can be at home in your pajamas making art or reading a book if you prefer. bonus points if you plant a flower.

gemini: for multiple reasons really, it's a good week for you to stay home and chill. if you need to be out and about you can of course do so. but making and maintaining a sanctuary for yourself is a top notch aim this week.

The key phrases for the Full lunar phase are “culminate, fulfill, illumine, manifest;” and “pour all our energy and effort into our intentions.”

This isn’t a very flowing chart, but I am kind of looking at it through a Mercury-retrograde lens - it isn’t always what we (think we) see. What I feel about this chart/phase has to do with the timing. On July 2, only three days after this phase matures, we are at the midpoint of the calendar year. These days seem like the perfect time to step back and sit with our feelings about 2026 so far. How have we done with any New Year’s resolutions we made, and why do we feel that way? Channel your Wise Compassionate Inner Grandparent, and give it some honest reflection. Over commitment perhaps? Too many irons in the fire? Or was it under commitment? Deep down, maybe we didn’t really believe we could do it. Were we in too much of a hurry to see results?

This may not be the most comfortable Full Moon ever, but that’s why I added “Compassionate” to the “Wise Inner Grandparent” description. Find what has worked, and plan to build on that.

There’s a void of course Moon on Wednesday, July 1, between 11:51 UTC and 19:33 UTC. After the Moon enters Aquarius we have some temporary conflict (perhaps between how much we can realistically accomplish, and how much we want to do). We’re also feeling a little more connected to the Wider World - whether that’s a good or a bad thing.

Another void Moon starts at 17:27 UTC on Friday, July 3; and lasts until 06:30 UTC on Saturday, July 4. This will take us up to the Disseminating phase. Expect some internet/computer shenanigans.
