Svyatoslav and Eve began as friends, and their relationship unfolded slowly through awkward brushes of hands in Herbology class, quiet walks along the edge of the Forbidden Forest, and stolen glances over breakfast in the Great Hall, cast from the Gryffindor table toward the Slytherin one.
Among the cold stones of the unfriendly Scottish castle, for some reason she seemed to him the only truly alive. Sometimes like a reflection of nature itself, which held such an important place in his life, or sometimes like a beautiful but dangerous flower, no less mesmerizing because of its danger.
Before confessing his feelings, Svyatoslav had to grapple not only with the subtleties of emotion but also with the intricacies of English grammar, a language he simply hadn’t known before coming to Hogwarts.
The process of his confession passed off-screen for me, but one way or another, if they ended up dancing together at the Yule Ball, it meant that Eve had most likely appreciated his pitiful yet earnest attempt to compose a love poem with the help of a magical translator. (And in that he and the author of this blog are, tragically, very alike.)

#MCTOBER2025
Week №1; Part №2 — Introduce your MC
Violet was born into a family of hereditary English squires, somewhere south of London. Her father was a Muggle, a politician, and a candidate for the city’s mayor. Her mother was a pure-blood witch.
Once, Lady Asther Hall (née Selwyn), like Violet, studied at Slytherin, but for reasons unknown to anyone, she was expelled and banned from using a wand. In her family, she immediately lost all significance and became an outcast in the magical community. Wandering the non-magical world, she met Theodore Hall, and their subsequent marriage branded her a “blood traitor” in the eyes of pure-blood wizards.
By the time Violet was born, the Hall family had already spent much of their fortune over generations, and the mansion had lost its former splendor. The roof leaked in places, wind blew through some windows, and only a couple of servants and a groom were left to manage the estate. Yet Mr. and Mrs. Hall always cared about appearances. Violet always had proper dresses and was taught everything her parents considered necessary for a young lady: violin, singing, dancing, and even horseback riding.
Still, she often ran away with the groom’s son to the nearby village to play with commoners, roll in the mud, fight, and generally gain real-life experience—often earning a scolding from her mother, who dreamed of raising a small, modest lady.
Lady Hall’s secret remained hidden from her husband until her daughter experienced an uncontrollable surge of ancient magic, which at the very least terrified all the servants, and at most nearly burned down the entire estate.
Wanting to keep this hidden, she tried to suppress her daughter’s magical impulses. Torn letters and ignored owls did not go unnoticed by Hogwarts’ administration, and Professor Fig had to personally visit the estate, persuade Lady Hall to finally send Violet to school, and hold a series of preventive talks with the previously non-magical household members.
Thus, Violet went to a school for troubled teens young witches and wizards. Sorted into Slytherin like her mother, but knowing almost nothing about the magical world, she immediately faced the prejudice of her pure-blood classmates. For the first time in her life, she realized that her status did not measure up.
In her early years at school, she confronted any attacks or insults head-on, often letting conflicts escalate into full-on fights. As she grew older, she learned to restrain her temper, adopting the mask of a cold, haughty “lady.” Yet it remained just as easy to provoke her with a sharp word as ever.
Her desire to prove she was no less than the pure-blood wizards drove Violet to immerse herself in her studies, spending much of her free time in the library or practicing spells. However, her unstable ancient magic made precision difficult, and her grades often suffered. More than once, she accidentally burned things that should have remained untouched, leaving her to serve detentions after class.
And she’s certain that if it weren’t for this curse of hers, she would’ve easily shown them all up. For now, though… Herbology remains the only subject she’s at least somewhat good at. The Chinese Chomping Cabbage peacefully chewing on her braid is still a far better conversationalist than all those idiots combined.
