"Its quite hot today, eh?"
Would anybody like a starter?
Jamais vu | @humanitysstrength
Toshi City appears to be a normal, quiet city.
Yet what attracted Zoe into moving into the beautiful place was the mystery, the oddness of it all. No place has ever piqued her interest like Toshi had, and to satiate her curiosity, she had decided to settle into the City of Eternal Sunset.
Walking in an almost slow pace, the brunette looked around, brown eyes registering every detail of buildings and people. This is her new home now -- and how her new nest contained so much to discover about! Almost skipping, Hange hummed to herself, smiling a little as she glanced over the shops, thinking of trying some of the food being sold along the street.
And she spotted it -- gelato! She loved the Italian dessert the most, and how quickly she headed over the little stall. "Espresso gelato, please," She smiled at the lady behind the counter, and fished out a bill from her pocket. Another three customers were there: a mother and her little boy, who had walked away immediately after receiving the cold treat; and a teenager, a student, who had also fished out a bill from his pockets to pay for his serving.
"Here you go," Said the lady, handing the brunet his gelato. The stranger took it with a thank you and started walking away, while Hange waited for hers to get handed over. Though in her musings, she noted an innocent bill lying on the ground, just a step away from where the teenager was standing a few minutes ago. Was it his? Zoe bent over and looked ahead at the student, who was quickly disappearing from the crowd. "Hey!" She called out, and handed her money to the lady after she had received her gelato. "Wait a second!"
Finally catching up to the boy, Zoe grabbed his elbow, stopping him in his tracks, before wiggling the bill in his view. "I believe you dropped this," She said casually, taking note of his appearance -- and peculiarly, it made her feel like she's suddenly forgotten something important.
"Uh, you're a student of Toshi Academy?" Hange blurted out, noting the boy's uniform. Hmm. She could apply as a school physician. "Do you mind showing me where your school is?"

She was close to finishing -- two more boxes to go, and then there's the miscellaneous stuff. Zoe smiled, feeling a little victorious. A job well done, I say.
Bending over, she picked up one of the two last boxes, glancing over its contents. In it was just a pile of scribbled on paper, full to the brim. What was this all about again? The doctor paused for a minute, biting her lower lip, thinking. Ah, yes. It was all case studies she had accumulated over the years -- case studies she had solved, and made.
Zoe had loved solving puzzles. It was a stimulating past time, and useful too -- being a doctor meant being good at figuring out what's wrong with a certain patient. If you're bullshit at diagnostics, you better rethink your life career.
Beginning to walk once more, the brunette hummed to herself, thinking about going through her notes once she had finished moving her things. While mentally stimulating, its also a good thing to do to pass up time.
...Except that her various complied papers suddenly acquired flight, the top most part floating away from her with accumulating speed.
"Shit," Putting the box down with haste (and remembering to close the flaps properly this time), Zoe ran after the pieces of paper, flip-flops padding over the street in an almost quiet patter. Reaching out, Zoe managed to catch one piece of paper in mid-air, but the rest seemed to fly away from her with more speed. Not yet a victory, she noted, and continued running after and picking up the papers that had landed on the pavement.
Though at a distance, she noted someone picking up her case studies as well -- a boy, a teenager, carefully looking and scrutinizing the contents of her files. "That's mine!" She waved with a smile, happy that finally, she managed to meet someone in their street.
"Sorry to trouble you, my shit just kind of went all over the place," Zoe picked up the various scattered papers on the street, after jogging quickly over to the boy. "I'm Zoe, by the way."
If anyone wants a starter specifically for their character, please do send me an ask or like this post and I'll come up with one for you. uwu
Moving in is difficult.
Difficult, in a way where Zoe finds it troublesome to cope up with carrying and managing her shit together -- its already so disorganized, so scattered. Back at home she had established certain bounds of space to her many things. The books go here, the clothes go there. Its set in her mind for a very long time, and as a common rule, you find it hard to remember new things about something that had not changed for so long.
Though as much as its confusing, its also refreshing. Zoe likes exploring new things, new environments and settings. Moving to Toshi is like breathing in after being submerged in water for tad a bit longer than you would have liked -- the lungs are strained, a little hurt maybe, but when you take that one breath, its wonderfully relieving, like its almost worth enduring the pain in your chest.
Hange had little furniture in her possessions. One lamp is the only thing she owns, aside from that comfortable blue swivel chair she bought from a garage sale a few years back. Mostly its books: medical books, novels, non-fiction ones. And that's most probably why she's already tired when its only seven in the morning -- hauling them from her car to the apartment looks more strenuous than it looks.
"Five down, ten more to go," She muttered, settling down a box that contained a series of volumes about the anatomy of the human ovary. Stretching, she huffed, looking around her new place. She had been roomed with someone else, though it appears that Miss Rockbell is not home... She hadn't really checked. Shrugging, Zoe headed out again, jogging down the steps toward her car to haul another batch of books.
Its pretty quiet though, peculiarly. Usually at seven life starts for most people -- or is it because her street is only so peaceful? She wondered briefly if she'd have a chance of making new friends today; meeting people when you're new to a place is a sure advantage, after all. Plus, she needed new people to bother, or else she'd go mad when she has no one to vent her theories and rambling to.
Dull. Sometimes its tiresome to be in the presence of something you are familiar with, especially when you've been with it for years. Routine is repetitive but that's just how it is in the world, isn't it? You are taught, you learn, you apply, and you teach -- that is the cycle, the dance that we all move to.
But cycles are boring. Cycles are repetitive. Routine. Zoe wants to dance, but she wants a different type of music and a different type of move every now and then.
And there it is, on the paper, flashing at her like LED lights in the dark. City of Eternal Sunset. How curious! She reads it instead of tempting applications, offers for jobs on hospitals far, far away. Why take a job at the edge of the world where you can live in a place basked in warm orange light; a place where strange things occur? An oddity at a time does one good, keeps the mind-gears turning. Toshi City is where the food is, and that is where the hunter will go.
Packed bags and goodbyes-- all formality, oh seriously, since when did people care about her? She had few aquaintances, even fewer friends you can count on one hand. Zoe is nothing but a briliant mind to them; a pair of eyes to tell people that they have a malignant growth inside of them by looking at a stained piece of flesh stuck to a glass slide. No matter though; she had little care of human relations anyway. People often got in the way of learning.
One ride is all it took. She owned too much books, and too little... Other things. She hopes her room mate (if she ever has one) will not faint at the sight of her 'disorganization'. And she hopes for other things too. Things that would add a brand new flavor to her already, quickly-turning, bland life.
((Heya guys!! I'm gonna roll out starters for all y'all so yep, please be patient with me, I'm a bit like a fucking turtle. uwu;;))
WHAT IS YOUR EARLIEST HUMAN MEMORY?
Eating curry. I think I cried, because it was too spicy.
