Surreal happenings in the family these days. My youngest was on a zoom call with a professor from Julliard today even though she is already headed to my alma mater on a music scholarship. Julliard is basically the Harvard of conservatories. He was the adjudicator of a competition a couple of months ago that she won. Things like this aren’t supposed to happen to people like us! :)

It’ll be interesting how this plays out over the next year.

I just updated mailing addresses on my post card list. If there’s anyone else who likes to receive random postcards, I’m happy to add you to it. If you think that’s weird, I get it. But I do have references if you need them. :)

As of 8:30 ish Central time this evening, all of my children are now high school graduates. Yes, I’m old.

My youngest, at essentially at the last minute when decisions need to be made, received a major full ride scholarship offer from a different college— tuition, room, board, most fees. Her first choice only gave her full tuition. This really pisses me off that the new offer comes in with little time to react. And the offer came to us while in the middle of a campus visit to the other school. Heck, we’ve already spent a hundred bucks on merch! :)

My guess is she will turn the better offer down, which will be somewhat of a struggle. School #1 has been recruited her hard since she applied while the other one hasn’t and probably gives her the best opportunity to thrive early on while she might wait at the other.

We shall see. The clock ticks. ⏰
