Donāt let the trolls get you down
While this is certainly easier said than done, hear me out.
Trolls have been a fixture in life for longer than the existence of the Internet. The Internet is just a new medium for them. Before, their awfulness typically spread face-to-face. This limited their reach. But now, unfortunately, trolls have a platform that can help them reach millions of people around the globe in a second. And while it is definitely disheartening to know that people so vile can have a voice that is so strong, we can take heart in knowing that the one trait that all trolls share is cowardice. Like the troll says in the Joel Stein article, āThe Internet is the realm of the coward.ā Because of the anonymity and lack of consequences, people can lash out at whoever they like. But they wouldnāt dare do such a thing in public. Deep down, they likely know what theyāre doing is wrong. Live a good life, unfazed by trolls. Itās the best weapon against them.
