new york can celebrate wildly because it has pedestrianization, density, and mixed land use

but it is also a basketball city, which is publicly funded and sanctioned by design. we have courts in every park, every nycha development, every ymca, city run rec centers. every gym class has you in a basketball court. churches have basketball courts.

there isnt enough land or transit accessibility to the bigger parks which allow for the unaffordable practice of baseball, or football.
