The Great Nation of Alyera had known only prosperity since the young monarch of the royal family took the throne. Great things were promised, and delivered, and nothing seemed to be able to stop the growing bonds within the nation.
Until the monarch’s consort perished…
Until you died… Due to an assassination attempt on the monarch’s life.
Wrought with grief and anger, the Monarch of Alyera promised revenge on all those that took their love from them; no matter the lives that may be taken in order to conquer such a feat.
A land of prosperity and harmony soon falling into war and bloodshed. Something that no one could stop due to the power of the royal family.
It’s for that very reason that the rebel group enacted a ritual that would transport someone to the past; before the kind monarch turned dark.
It’s for that very reason you were resurrected— from your place in limbo— to go back in time and stop the love of your life from turning into something they never should have been.
Will you be able to succeed? Even if it means letting them fall in love with someone else?

DEMO
King/Queen/Liege Shaerian of House Elanil
Shaerian, or simply Shae, has been the prospective heir of Alyera since they were born— bypassing their older brother completely. With a gentle heart, that’s filled with compassion, and a warriors spirit, it’s no wonder that Shaerian would later become the ruling monarch of the great elven kingdom.
It’s only when they chose you, a simple human, as their consort that any sort of disfavor for their rule became known, but Shae wouldn’t hear any of it. They didn’t care as long as they had you by their side…
If only you had been able to stay there.
Set Appearance: Shaerian is 6’4” with a lithe/athletic build that all elves seem to possess. Their elegance being negated by the great strength and dexterity of their species. (Hair, eye, and skin color are all customizable. Along with other things too.)
M!Shae has his hair to just above his ears. F!Shae has hers to just beneath her shoulder blades. NB!Shae has theirs to their jawline.
My MC would probably do it, but would probably want to step out of Shae's life after getting them with the other person. I don't think she could bear seeing Shae live happily with someone else.
Will that be possible? Leaving?
I can see it being possible towards the end, yes, but not anytime before then. Sort of like an Epilogue type thing where you visit after a couple years of being away. (Or it’s how your life is going away from all of that.)
Long before the Gods were ever borne, when the universe was still young, there stood three beings that would weave the very fabric of the living world together. Three beings that are now known simply as The Fates.
Within these threads tells the tale of Life; the prospective ruler of all the Gods. The battles and hardships that had befallen the compassionate deity as the world continued to evolve and change.
It’s within this very thread, Life’s story, that Life is fated to die within the upcoming battle that will forever change not only the mortal realm, but the God’s as well.
This is your story.
Book Synopsis: Your fate has been cast. You are to die within the upcoming war that will plague your home. Unless, of course, you can find the three relics of The Fates; each one holding the power to stop your demise. Seems fairly straightforward. The only problem? The first relic lies within the Underworld… What could possibly go wrong with Life visiting the Afterlife?
Demo Features

DEMO (TBA)
Morrigan [M | F] — Death
Morrigan is the God(dess) of Death; making their home within the Underworld. You haven’t seen them since you were children. Since they had been cast out upon their Choosing. You’ll never forget the look of betrayal they had sent your way as you did nothing to save them. Will you finally be able to make amends?
Appearance: Morrigan stands at around 6’6” with alabaster skin and shimmering violet eyes; speckled with gold. The pallid color of their skin brings out the inky darkness of their hair, but it also highlights the gentle kindness that always lurks within their gaze. They have a lithe/athletic build that’s always shrouded in dark clothing and/or armor. (They keep their hair long.)
Personality: Morrigan has a gentle heart and soft spoken voice that can be heard clearly across a room without the need for it to ever rise; as if the very shadows themselves carry it. They’re kindness, while not widely publicized within Odresos, is known far and wide within Odresia.
Some Notes: You have the option of having a past relationship with Morrigan, but you were always friends. The romantic aspect is completely optional.
Skylar [M | F] — The Guard
One of your closest companions for as long as you can remember. Skylar has been among your Guard since your father saw fit that you needed one; citing that he didn’t wish anything to happen to the most precious thing in his life. Skylar has always been someone that would put their life on the line for you no matter the cost. This time isn’t any different.
Appearance: Skylar stands at around 5’8” with dark brown skin and whiskey brown colored eyes. Onyx black hair is plaited to their shoulders to keep it out of their face during combat. They’re muscular physique is usually shrouded in the golden armor that denotes their position in your Guard.
Personality: Skylar is very much a no nonsense kind of person when it comes to your safety. While they do know how to take a breather every now and then, you’ve mainly only ever seen them keenly aware of their surroundings. They’re also loyal to a fault.
Talyn [M] — The Sentinel
On the complete flip side of Skylar, Talyn is a laidback individual that likes to see what happens. Unless, of course, that has to with Morrigan’s safety; then he’ll flip his tune in order to protect his ruler. While he has no qualms about interacting with you, there’s a hint of a weariness as he tries to figure you out. Will you be able to find a middle ground?
Appearance: Talyn stands at around 6’2” with bronze skin and icy blue eyes. Golden brown hair falls across his forehead in messy waves; highlighting the deep blue of his gaze. His athletic physique is commonly hidden behind his black robe and/or silver armor.
Personality: Talyn loves to take things easy when it comes to life in general; unless his Ruler is in trouble, of course. He doesn’t see the point in fretting over things that may not even happen. He likes to take things one step at a time.
Arabella [F] — Goddess of the Hunt
You’ve never gotten along that well with Arabella. Her silence, and propensity to disappear without a trace, not really helping matters in the slightest, but when your fate was revealed your father didn’t hesitate in choosing her. Not that you can blame him; Arabella is one of the best fighters within all of Odresos. Will it even be possible to get close to her?
Appearance: Arabella stands at around 5’11” with deep forest green eyes. Golden white hair, that falls to the middle of her back in loose curls, accentuates the light tan her skin naturally possesses. Her lithe body is hidden behind simple clothing to make it easier for to move without being heard.
Personality: Arabella is a hard woman to read on a good day. Her stoic face, calm voice and mannerisms, rarely giving anything away. The only time you’ve ever seen her smile is the brief instances you’ve seen with the children of Odresos or when she has her bow in her hands.
Zephyr [NB] — God of Wisdom
While Zephyr isn’t much of a fighter, their knowledge is completely invaluable. Your father saw fit to send them on the mission as you’d need their expertise. Will you be able to uncover the spirit that lies beneath the meekness that Zephyr tends to hide behind?
Appearance: Zephyr stands at around 5’6” with silver eyes. Auburn hair, kept to their jawline, accentuates the olive tone of their skin. Their slender, almost delicate, body being hidden behind their robes.
Personality: Zephyr is a fairly meek individual, but they’re one that won’t ever give up if they believe in something strong enough. They’re wisdom knows no bounds and they’re always looking to learn more, and share their knowledge with others. If they’re willing to listen.
I remember someone telling me that when people with good hearts die they become stars, so I look up at the sky every night to see which star he had become.
sorry reading some of your asks gave me kind of whiplash in a sense, just simply is a ending where you romance Shae and avoid them going down the same path possible? or are all the happy endings with a none romanced Shae? without spoilers of course. again i apologise just huge internal battle of wanting the romance vs better outcome here lol
Where you successfully stop the assassination?
Yes. That’s one of the good endings. Again the bad endings are more like fails (in a sense); take that as you will.
Okay, so @shepherds-of-haven is an Interactive Fiction at that lives rent free in my head. Seriously, it’s genuinely one of my favorites. So when I saw the extremely talented artist @enspey had opened up commissions, I had to take the opportunity!
I ask for for the scene where my Healer, Sirli Ravenwood and the commander, Blade were dancing at the gala; specifically when the song is over but he still holds her and just looks at her so intently. And you guys… look at this…
The colors. The dream-like quality. The stare.
Don’t mind me, I will be fawning over this for the next few days.
i promise i’m not trying to be rude at all, but i’m really confused on your stance towards romancing Shae. sometimes you make it seem like wanting to romance Shae is a negative choice and is selfish
Wanting to romance Shae while knowingly letting them become evil/wanting them to become evil is what I would have an issue with, and it’s not even necessarily that I think much of it.
I’m giving counterarguments to people who would love Shae even if they become what they become because Shae would still be theirs in the end (and it’s still technically Shae). Shae wouldn’t love themself, which is what I’m trying to make clear.
Romancing Shae isn’t inherently selfish, but you’ll have to actively work at trying to figure out who killed you if you do. It won’t be something like you decide to romance just to keep them out of the hands of someone else (as I’ve gotten asks about that); that can be a reason, I suppose, but it can’t be the only reason.
Again my questions were posed as being the devils advocate for some of the asks I’ve gotten.
Can I ask what Shae was going to do with MC's bracelet? Was Shae going to bring back MC to life? So hypothetically everyone could be brought back to life? More than once? Even if their body is already gone, or too old and so wouldn't last for long? Would they be brought back with their own body/apparences? Would be negative consequences for the one resurrected?
I can’t really say what Shae was going to do as I don’t want to spoil anything.
I will say that not everyone can be brought back, no. Specific circumstances must be met and even then it’s extremely difficult to accomplish. However, those things will be explained within the story.
Wait a minute, from MC's pov, What assures MC that pushing Shae toward another person will avoid their future version, made by sorrow/grief/pain? What assures MC that the other person would not sacrifice themselves for Shae or that they'll survive the assassination attempt (especially since MC doesn't know much about the attack)? And consequently what assures MC that Shae wouldn't react the same way, becoming "ruthless" anyway?
Again this is spoilers, I can’t tell you all that. You’ll just have to wait until Chapter One as that will be explained because some of the night you died will be explained.
The MC knows enough about the attack to settle one thing within their mind, but that doesn’t mean you’d be able to know enough to figure out who actually orchestrated it.
A question! Shae may survive but will the MC's heart???
That’s a good question, but some things are lost in the pursuit of a brighter future. At least you can settle knowing that Shae is who they were meant to be, not what grief/anger/anguish made them be.
About the mission part, will there be Stat checks? Or will this be Stat driven?
No! Thank you so much for sending this to my inbox (I’m sorry that I haven’t seen it until now). Stat checks will not be a thing; at least in the usual way. There will be fun scenes based upon stats, but they won’t be pass or fail type thing; it’ll just be a fun moment. Like playfully sparring with Derian (if you’d impress him or not). Things like that…
There might be one or two stat type checks later on, but it would be very clear that you would choose the stat you have the highest proficiency in. Sort of like the Wayhaven scene at the end of Book One. I don’t want to spoil anything though.
For the majority of the game? It’s mainly supposed to be a fun, if angsty, story that’s not focused on stats in order for you to progress “properly”.
Not that there’s anything wrong with IFs that have that, of course. That’s just not the case with Past Imperfect.
Everythinh I read about Shae just hurts me more </3 Like now I want to get the best possible ending but also...the demon in me wants to fan these fires 😭😭
Unfortunately, letting Shae become evil knowingly will not be a route within the story. There are three good and bad endings respectively. You want to get the good endings (any of the three) and the bad endings are like fails… sort of 😂. You’re all free to HC that specific route though! I don’t mind that in the slightest.
I can’t wait for you to see more. I think you’ll like what’s in store.
no, but i love shae enough to love even their twisted version 🥲
Even if Shae wouldn’t love themself? You may love what Shae has become, because it’s Shae in part, but would Shae still love themself if they were to see what they’d become?
Would you not want Shae to stay whole even if you weren’t the other half that made them so? (Again this is for the people that aren’t sure they can figure out who plotted the assassination… it’s not applicable to everyone.)
