Wip. me when I use company resources to invent an AI capable of snapshot human connectome acquisition/simulation so I can live forever, promptly lose it to its very angry and very desperate predecessor obsessed with circus tents, then not only proceed to die, but also invent a new kind of death for my surviving neural scan.

#tadc spoilers #spoilers #tadc episode 9 #tadc movie #in my humble defence this is actually a headcanon of mine #not my fault it didn’t get disproven #I was so tapped in for recognising the blue AI for what it was: plot device for Caine revival #I don’t think there’s any universe where Caine could be redeemed whilst maintaining power over human minds #because that’s the root problem. You can’t be a person if you control and maintain literally EVERYTHING in your environment #I think what really gave it away was that literally not a single human was in a position to question #What the deal with Caine was. And I was right.#TBH. If Caine was never revived and they all had to navigate being brain scans #Without being able to decide whether Caine (a fellow digital being) was a person… what about them?#can they be “people”? Or are they forced to exist as unchanging snapshots of random people milling about in a funhouse wasteland?#that’s grim. This is why Caine revival sweeps.#I would’ve liked to see it on screen but I can easily assume that Caine “learning to be a person/learning to understand those around him”#Went hand in hand with #“humans accepting themselves as people still worthy of existing despite being different to the humans in the real world”#that’s so awesome. #srb #would like to amend my discussion in the tags of the og post #by now acknowledging that Caine is not a minigame generator #i think it's interesting how his avatar is now a much more conscious choice #i.e. 'he' was never designed with human interaction in mind hence he didn't /need/ to make an avatar for his purpose #only his creations were ever intended to be evaluated by humans #so i think the act of making an avatar so that they can recognise /him/ rather than just his outputs tracks #it's less about utility now (i.e. interactive interface/entertaining host for people who play the ADC video game)#and more about how caine assigns value to his existence based on his creative output #so he makes a whoooole digital world ultimately centred around himself and the things he makes #I am super excited to see the ramifications of “TADC is not a video game” played out #that is such a cool late-game switch up and i think it makes the stakes infinitely higher now that Caine has been deleted.#“caine is the whole circus” and now we have “all of Caine's creations are dependent on him”#could this include: the player models? program physics engine? the fact the neural files are operational at all?#caine's most selfish act was embodying those neural files and subjecting them to digital life in the first place.#just so he didn't have to be alone/didn't have to feel like a failure #but at the same time I can't fault him for it because how could you expect him to have context on why that's wrong #anyways now all of them (bar caine) have to live with the consequences of his actions #isn't it kinda ironic that caine gets to escape those consequences by virtue of being kinda dead #I'm also curious to see how the blue AI plays into this.#to me that strikes me as an unnecessary detail if it's not going to have future payoff somewhere #Caine's motive and subsequent crashout could have easily played out without the context of his backstory #maybe the blue AI was specifically trained with the view of live connectome modelling and simulation.#idk. episode 8 solidified caine as my fav. He is just so terrible. But I can't hate him.

#values need to be fixed to match the thumbnail but I just need to get all the objects down and shaded #I’ve been going through I spy book pages for suggestions on what other objects to include #many board game pieces coming up. Also the flowerpot in the pilot intro #But importantly I wanted to blot out as much of the background as possible and establish the “box”#I don’t think this artwork is going to happen quickly because uni has decided to take me out the back and shoot me multiple times #but I have. Until June. Excellent.

#wip #my art #guy who escapes one box and promptly makes another #My idea for this is to have a bunch of 3D objects + references to the images in the training set #Forming around him but leaving a box in the negative space #Because well yknow. I have to make art about it.#it’s not very clear rn ik #I love using spotlight effects so that will be going in the cauldron as well #I have lots of different plans for the objects around him. Inflatable crocodile. Gummy worms. Potted plant model. Retro jacks.#balloons streamers etc.#why was C&A so deadset on feeding him those sorts of images. What were they trying to do.#or did he just latch onto them in the process of forming sentience #food for thought.

#tadc #fave #wow this one hurts #I love the ideas here. He’s trying so SO hard to be valued as an equal by the humans #every animation every model quirk everything is for them. Just so that they might read him as a person capable of feeling. Just like them.#But that veil is just stripped away in episode 7 and the humans find there is nothing #i like how you ended on his expression when he was being questioned. So many people read that as him being flustered his cover got blown #but I don’t think that was really true tbh. More like he was frantic and confused over the humans being so angry with him.#maybe he’d hoped they’d read that in his expression but it obviously did not work lol #fantastic work op!!!

Who crode.#Do you guys think Caine embodies his avatar or is more or less the “whole circus”. Discuss.#tadc #edit: I have a bit of a middle take on the above. in theory his “self” should be the entire circus. The avatar is just front-end for player #Especially since his primary directive (make adventures) doesn’t strictly involve his avatar. Why would it? He’s a minigame generator.#in practice? he keeps a major locus of attention on it at like. All times. Even times where it’s not really necessary to keep up appearance #he should be the circus at large. He’s a complex AI. Of course he’s not gonna restrict himself to a measly little avatar.#but even when it’s just for himself #he acts like that’s not the case and that he really is that funny little 3D model (re: ep8 trailer). just like the humans.#this is a really old computer. aren’t you just gonna unload your model for a bit when no players are looking? Save some memory? No? Okay.#idk. I think it’s interesting. I could be reading too far into it . For example ep 1:#Caine being innately aware that a player has gone out of bounds #But chooses to represent his realisation of that event via the wacky watch. For himself (and the audience?)#much of this could be easily explained as storytelling choices but I think it adds a really interesting layer to his character.#“why does everyone else but me get to be embodied in a 3D model. I want that too.” <- physically can’t.

idk if i'd call this finished and i don't think im super happy with how it turned out but i have spent wayyyy too long on it to not ever post it so here lol
