With tears rolling down my cheeks I write this. Where to even begin? My heart is absolutely full of love for these 20+ men who have taken over my life. Words cannot express how proud I am.
We have been through so much this year…we lost our first game of the season….we changed coaches, we couldn’t get more than one win at a time until the all star break. We had injuries, injuries that would forever change our lives. Injuries that brought a wonderful new individual to our team and gave us renewed energy.
I always believed but I became a new kind of believer. I am so proud to say I was never on tank nation. I fought the haters, I stood up for my team. We lost a huge member of the family recently and together we chanted “Let’s Win it All”. We have the best rookie in the league and the best defenseman in the league. But really, you can’t tell, because this team is exactly that. A team.
Our emotions have rollercoastered for over 3 months and I have never experienced as much anxiety, but the feeling that hockey gives me is unexplainable. The 6 games I was able to watch in person I watched in pure bliss, ecstatic to see some of my favourite people live.
This season we laughed together (freaking prime ministers race), we were nervous together, we shared experiences together. We freaked when erikkarlsson65 would reblog us (I know because we all privately messaged each other when it happened lol) and we enjoyed his music recommendations. For the longest time we also saw some of the cutest pets in the world because my captain wanted us to see. We were kind to ourselves as well because we were reminded to.
My season started when I got my EK65 C Jersey and going to the very amazing fan fest and it ended with me sitting in my family room bawling with so much pride. I met 6 players this year and each encounter was extremely special.
Very importantly, I met Mel passionfordramaxo one of my now extremely good friends, with whom we have shared tons of sens memories and are now super close thanks to erikkarlsson65 . Also, thank you to patricpersson85 for the amazing person that he is. Your tweets, snapchats, vines, they were all great! You are truly one of a kind and I loved meeting you and Erik is truly blessed for having a best friend like you.
Finally, oh captain my captain erikkarlsson65 thank you for the VERY best season I have experienced and all the moments you were there for me. Frig, you even told me to feel better when I went to the hospital, when I had bad days, etc. You are such an inspiration to all of us and I will be forever thankful to you. I can’t wait to meet you one day and thank you in person but until then know that I will be right here to cheer you on day in and day out as (per your words) “one as your biggest fans”. I’m proud of carrying that title and will always be here. Go celebrate your amazing first year as Cappy, you absolutely more than deserve it.
I know this is a novel, but I just needed to thank all of you tumblr friends too for an amazing season full of new friendships, chirping, and cheering together! I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I love you all!
