How To Choose The Elegant Music For Your Wedding
By Guest Blogger Lowe Freya Posted 11th February 2016
Every couple wants their wedding to be the most memorable event of their life. So for the same reason, many people arrange musicians to play on the wedding day. When it comes to music, the most important thing is the selection of music pieces that you want to have played.
Gean House near Stirling has a lot of character and history (built in 1912) and lends itself very well to a variety of music, and often has The Clarsach Society host their Harps in Harmony events at Gean. The beautiful sound of the harps fills the house and is a delight to hear, giving a magical atmosphere to an already majestic building.

Types of musicians
Most people hire pianists, string quartets and harpists for the wedding ceremony because of their flexibility. Aside from these, there are other musicians who can be hired for the big day. They are:
Classical guitarists Gospel choirs Classical musicians Solo singers Opera singers Classical ensembles
Once you have booked your musicians, the next thing you need to do is discuss your ideas and choices with them. Help them to create the best music for your big day. Make sure to tell them in advance as they need a few weeks to rehearse. If you have any preferences, make sure to tell them these. If you have no particular ideas of what you want then you can ask them for suggestions.
When the music is played during the ceremony
During the wedding ceremony, music is played on these occasions:
Waiting for the bride to arrive When the bride arrives Ceremony music/hymns During the register signing On the bride and groom’s departure
1. Waiting for the bride to arrive When the family and friends are waiting for the bride, playing live music is a great way to create a scene. You can play music that is serene and calm as it will help people to settle down. Additionally, it will help to create an anticipation among the guests for the arrival of the bride.
2. When the bride arrives Traditionally, you can opt for a performance on ‘The Bridal March’ by Wagner, a wonderful piece that can be played by a harp and string quartet. Some brides prefer to play something that is very much close to their heart and has some significance to them.
3. Ceremony music The music for the ceremony is completely prepared according to the wish of the couple. Most couples prefer hymns if they get married in a church although Gean House can offer everything under one roof from ceremony to the meal and evening reception.
4. During Register signing During the register signing ceremony, most of the time something personal to the bride and groom is played rather than a traditional piece. It can be anything that suits your personalities.
5. Recessional music When you are walking down the aisle, this is the moment where you are finally married and want to celebrate it. Play music that will uplift your guests as they watch the couple take their first steps.
Some combinations that you can choose for your musicians to play are during the wedding ceremony and reception, or during the wedding ceremony and the wedding breakfast.
If you are planning to hire musicians for your wedding try to hire them for the whole day. Some musicians offer packages and you can choose the one that suits you. Bear in mind that the musicians will not be playing for the whole day and there will be some limit to their playing time.
