About the Amazon Rainforest
Hey guys! I donât usually bring that kind of thing to my blog, because Iâm aiming to keep it as drama, negativity and politically free as I can.
But I do think, as Brazilian, that remaining silent about my rain forest becoming charcoal and dust would be a complete disservice.
Iâm not going to share any news, articles or anything of the like. You guys can grab it by simply doing a quick Google search. What Iâm here for is to make it clear: despite this being an absolute tragedy, the Governmentâs lack of action is expected.
Our country is in political chaos. Weâre not only ignoring the Environment, but also Education, Healthcare, and several other important areas. Weâre facing a year of hate, mistrust and hurt. Most of us are tired, disheartened and hopeless. The rates of suicide - specially among young people and LGBT people - are increasing at alarming rate.
I wish I could tell you how to help us. But besides spreading awareness, I donât know. We are fighting, be damn sure we are. But please, donât let your countries fall victim to the same ignorance and hate we have.
If voting isnât mandatory where you live, still give it a long thought and consider voting. When you donât use your voice through that, youâre allowing other people to decide the fate of your country. Donât buy the opinions of others and donât let yourself be influenced by the media: research, study and compare your candidates. And most importantly: before thinking only about how things affect you, think about the people who have less to none privileges and struggle more with the system than you do.
Think about your fellow human beings with love. People are not numbers.
As for my beloved Floresta AmazĂŽnia⊠My heart bleeds. I know very well what weâre losing, and itâs irreplaceable.
