My second time seeing the Milky Way this clearly. I was woken up by a stranger that was looking for their tent around 3am. I figured I might as well get up and check for clear skies. You get up around 4am and start hiking through the woods in total darkness. It’s 500 metres of elevation gain over 3 kilometres. The trees clear and then the path is all rocks. Patagonia images are finally complete and here’s one I’m particularly fond of. It isn’t exactly a big vista like we were so used to seeing on the 8 day trek but landscape photography isn’t only about big mountains and colorful clouds. Here’s my cabin in Canada where I now live full-time.  I was a workaholic filmmaker. My work took me around the world and then one day I just woke up and wanted a more sustainable future for myself. I switching to working part-time and turned my focus to building my own home. It took me 3 years to build it. 

I named my cabin Jeanne. It is 700 sqft, solar-powered, I harvest rainwater from the roof into a tank as my main source of water.

Day 2 I took the cable car from Courmayeur to Pointe Helbronner, roughly 3500m up Monte Bianco. This is the view North down the valley towards Chamonix, France. Even though it was below freezing, I stayed out on the viewing platforms for hours taking pictures and watching the climbers head out onto the mountain.
