i have been thinking about it. for a long long time. and i think i finally understand what the motif with jax's keys is all about. to me i think the fact that jax has so many keys represents how he keeps himself locked away, under tons and tons of walls and barriers and falsities, so no one sees who he truly is. i think this is why he has always had so many keys throughout the show

and. im thinking about how in the finale we learn that jax can play the piano, and what do pianos have? KEYS. and the piano jax is the one who gives pomni the key to finally learn about the real jax. to show how jax is finally letting down his walls, all his misleading doors, and showing how he *does* want to be able to be vulnerable, he always has wanted to, he's just always smothered that

i think that this also kind of connects to jax becoming a mail carrier in the real world. not only does jax have a motif of keys, he also has a motif of doors clearly seen in the finale when pomni is exploring around his mindspace, and i think that works really well with like. him being a mail carrier. because he's like! going around to people's doors and stuff! that's so smart!

prolly obvious, but i wonder if caine messed with kingers mind to make him forgetful and "crazy" specifically so thst kinger WOULDNT abstract, after all the other originals did

cuz obviously caine doesnt like the abstractions and he lives to entertain the humans, so with kinger being the only one remaining and him being likely to follow the others in the trend of abstracting, caine wouldve seen there as being no option but to meess w kingers mind so thst he Wouldnt abstract

Is it just me who's kinda put off by the idea that Jax doesn't deserve sympathy/a redemption arc/anything good basically? Or even the idea that Jax actually deserves abstraction?

God, I don't even know how to word this without making people think I'm excusing their actions. But the fact of the matter is them taking accountability for their actions and growing as a person aren't mutually exclusive at all! They can do both!

I see so many comments and tiktok posts about how they're an abuser and how the show and characters excuses their actions because misogyny and I can't help but think... If Jax does end up having a hopeful ending where it's implied that they'll grow and change, people will have a huge problem with that because lord forbid genuinely bad people even try making an attempt at change and growth.

Don't even get me started on the "Pomni is a pick me girl" comments. I see so many of them on tiktok. Mostly jokes about how Pomni would defend Jax even though they're such a bad guy. And I know they're just jokes and maybe I'm being too sensitive but I'm like.. What even prompted that as a comment? Literally at no point did I remember Pomni excusing Jax' actions. She is quite literally just.. Being there for them.

This is literally just a ramble and not really a properly detailed rant.. English isn't my first language and I don't have the vocabulary to properly write down a lot of my points but I hope this comes across as cohesive. I'm using they/them for Jax because I'm becoming more and more sure that they'll come out as transfem in the finale and I feel weird using he/him.

Sighs. I don't know. I hope Jax has a hopeful ending (and comes out as a girl.)

NO YEAH EXACTLY i agree

speaking broadly here, the sentiment that because someone is a bad person, that they dont "deserve" to be redeemed or that they shouldnt be redeemed, is so odd to me. because like, what else is supposed to happen with that person then? it implies something like, because someone has been an asshole, they are just. Doomed to be an asshole forever, that is their destiny, oh well. it doesnt really? Make sense? To me?

i think jax being redeemed would be excellent for the general themes of tadc because, i think it would help show how, things in the past cannot be changed and the bad things jax did can never be excused or Undone. but whats important is him learning to grow and make better future actions. you cant change the past, but you DO have control over the future and what to do with yourself now.
