Pushing down the second button again to change what was listed to the word sale, he went ahead and selected the coke he wanted free of charge. Leaning down to pick up the bottle from the take-out port, he stood up as he felt someone behind him. Without turning around, he turned the cap to hear the fizz, “It’s retribution. Want me to get you one?”

impossible  — “this track explains something that happened to me in my freshman year of high school. and i was like, treated badly by her. like to the point where i did things i didn’t normally do which definitely explains my years in high school. shit was just interesting and i think this has a good handle on that situation.”

the sequence  — “ that back and forth shit, you feel me? it’s just like the rinse and repeat situation i had with someone who means a lot to me. we did this a lot, i guess because we were so invested in each other. i think my homies got sick of it after a while but this track explains that situation perfectly.”

i’m gone — “major shout out to colette for hopping on the track when i needed her to. but yeah, it’s all about this life i picture when i’m famous. i did all that — the gold chains, being someone i’m not and all that. i think this song details that to a tee, i’m good with that. being able to display the realism in my life rather than this fake shit i was used to. i wrote this back when rosewood had that lock in, where everyone was stuck in the building and had free range with everything. it came naturally, yep.”

bonnie and clyde — “one word: iconic. made the history books for being that couple who defined ride or die. this song’s been in my notebook for a minute, it’s back when i was kicking it with some girl who i was with way back. found out she had a dude of her own and out came this. ”

a tale of 2 citiez  — “a conflict i always look at in rosewood/ like, the two different sides. you got the rich and then, you got the poor. i just wanted to reflect on that situation the best way i knew how. shout out to my eleventh grade english teacher for making me read that book.”

THE STORY —

Being the child of Paxton – better known as Play by most – Morgan, is an interesting reflection. The weekends he spent with his father were usually something he enjoyed; between going to the studio and being able to meet some of the world’s most renowned artists to knowing who was the current missus in his life, it seemed like his father had it all. However, there were times where things went a little awry, situations he’d rather not discuss with anyone, but it was those times when the boy realized that, that was the reason why his father wasn’t around, at all. He didn’t stress the situation, knowing that it was something between his parents, but it did cause some tension as he grew older. He did appreciate the life the older man had, without a doubt. Of course, he was no musical prodigy, but the lifestyle was fast, almost like a high you can’t come down from. It wasn’t wrong to dream, but his mother had an impact on how his life is now. After all, she was the only who truly understood him, as well as the only one who provided for him. It was unfortunate to say at times, but true. There were times where she worked long nights, which left him in the hands of his aunt. There were times where bills began to add up, when the necessities of every home were either off or whatever, but they made it work. Though, he could never say that his mom ever missed a single thing important to him.

Weekends were the good times, to joke around and everything else. Monday through Friday afternoon, was a time to actually focus on a realistic dream. One that didn’t involve using charm and a nice smile to get you out of things. Mal didn’t mind this approach since he always received good grades, something he’s modest about. It was the simple fact that it felt sort of forced like it was something he had, that it was something he couldn’t express himself on. As he matured, however, he did learn that he could have a good time during the week, especially without his mother’s knowledge. It wasn’t the same like he witnessed times and times before, but it was close enough to realize he could balance the two. His “late nights, early mornings” routine wasn’t difficult and yet, it came to an end as soon as summer began. He had to head to Rosewood, Illinois – a town he remembered faintly, just because someone had the idea that he should stay with a person he didn’t have an established relationship with. Again, he didn’t stress at all, but accepted it, taking the opportunity to explore his options in a familiar setting.
