Handing over a knife probably wasn’t recommended, but Etera wasn’t going to leave the slave unsupervised with it and he was more than confident that he could disarm one damn poltergeist with little issue. “Another stint in the cage? Anyone would think you like causing trouble.” Etera gave a small grin of amusement at the whole situation, “whatever did you do this time?” He asked, though something about his tone said that he cared more for his own entertainment value than he did for upholding the castles discipline.
Etera was somewhat surprised to hear Paxtons eager request, though stuck in a place like this Etera would likely be the same. “Alright. But stop twiddling that knife around, you’ll hurt those delicate looking hands of yours.” Etera responded and walked past the poltergeist, taking the knife back into his own grasp, “make yourself useful and hold one of these.” He said, handing Paxton one of the massive black birds by the legs before continuing past him. “Are you coming or not?”
The knife wasn’t particularly impressive but he liked that Etera let him have it anyway. He flipped it in his hand a couple times, playing absentmindedly with the tip as they spoke. Rolling his eyes at the masters amusement at his pain, Paxton took in a deep breath and playfully held the knife out as a warning to him “Same as last time.” he answered, though it was a bit less truthful, “Some twat, I need to get his name, pulled a power trip and tacked days on my sentence. Fuckin’ stupid.” he emphasized the word ‘stupid’ with a flip of the knife which was the moment Etera decided to take it back.
The bird was somehow both heavier and lighter than he expected but he realized that he just hadn’t known what to expect. His lip curled though, at the feel of the leg in his hand. It was objectively gross. “Yeah, yeah...” he muttered, jogging to catch up to the master as they headed in to the castle towards his suite, “Do you do this...” he held up the bird and gave it a little shake, “Often? Seems weird.” Paxton put much more weight into ‘weird’ than necessary and he had a mischievous glint in his eye as he said it. Etera hadn’t seemed like one who was very volatile but he wanted to see if he could get a rise out of him, even a playful one.
