SHE’D INSISTED link go grab a few treats at the buffet table, since she saw him eyeing it for quite a while. it warms her to know his love of food stayed even in this world. zelda walks back around the area, not leaving the general space so he could find her again. her head is tilted up, eyes running over the ceiling at the decor with awe. it’s much different than what hyrule would do, but a good kind of different. she wished she had the sheikah slate to take photos of the twinkling lights and sparkling snowflakes in the air. one seems to be close enough to reach, and she steps forward without looking to touch it out of curiosity for what material is used. it’s a mistake – she gasps as the liquid spilling on her feet, looking down to see what’s caused it. her face falls as she sees she’d bumped into someone, and that they’re apologizing to her. “oh, no, no, this is my fault,” she insists. a voice that sounds like her father’s whispers that it’s always her fault. she blinks, tensing but tries to ignore it. “i’m so sorry. there’s some on my shoes i believe, but it’s my own fault for being distracted.” she picks up the dress, pulling the hem up to see her shoes and what damage is done. “i can go get you another drink, if you’d like? again, my apologies for making you spill it.”
❝ OH , I’M SO SORRY ! ❞ nao repeats the phrase once more as she reaches for some napkins. keeping them in hand , she immediately falls to her knees without a thought. she tries to dab at the shoes with the paper product , hoping to absorb the spillage to no avail. tears pool in the corner of her eyes as she again stands a moment later , slouched in an apparent display of apologetic defeat. words of disapproval run through her mind on a continuous loop , negative statements & accusations by the people in her life , ones that had been directed at her. they’ve been progressively getting louder in her head throughout the night & she’s found herself unable to stop them. ❝ this is my fault , ❞ she insists , gaze dropped to the floor. ❝ i’m just too clumsy. everyone says so. and now i’ve ruined your shoes. ❞ she squeezes her eyes shut for a brief second or two & then opens them , shifting upwards to finally face the other once more ... but the other is gone. everyone is gone & it’s certainly her fault. her whiny appearance must’ve drawn everybody away. she only barely has enough time to register how ridiculous that sounds before the party flashes back around her. she blinks , confused as she scans the once again busy room. it’s as though no one had left. ❝ uh , no , ❞ she starts , sounding distracted. ❝ i mean , no thank you. it’s fine really. ❞
