I want to be able to maybe make my bad bun into stickers like these. I adore the style of cute stationary like this. I'll definitely experiment with having a thick line around the character like on these.

My favourite tshirt that I own. This is the type of thing in the theme of "cute but bad" I want to make.
Cute Sanrio purse that I was given as a gift. Love the pattern design of the cute character head.
More cute surface patterns that I own. the artbox panda and one of mickey and Minnie Mouse.
More cute character patterns that I own.
Here’s and example of clothing I own with cute character surface designs.
this is good to look at for inspiration on how I could place a character I make onto objects, and notice what is required from a character to work on an object.
Namennayos Rebel biker kittens are a lovely concept that fits my "cute but bad" theme. looking at this I can get more ideas for my own mascot character. In a biker gang maybe? Or a japanese Yankee gang? Or just naughty school kid, grafitti-Ing, smoking, playing pranks.
punk leather jacket photo reference research for my Bad bun character. Worn-ness, Studs and badges are the thing!
I love these series of ape escape covers. I still look at them for ages just taking in everything that's happening. Cute, bold, funny and lively. I'll look to these as help as to what to do for my bad bun designs, colour, layout and rendering wise. I might even make images like the background scenes on these, with my bad bun causing mischief.
When designing my bad bun, I thought about how naughty, cool and cute the Squirtle squad in Pokemon was. The main thing that made Squirtle cool was his Triangle shades. Maybe my bad bun should wear some..but not as sharp and big as Squirtles. so I looked at more triangle sunglasses that wasn't as extreme. Designing glasses based on these would be best for my bad bun.
Looking at concept character artwork for my favourite RPGs (from left to right) Ni no kuni, final fantasy ix, bravely default, And legend of Zelda windwaker.
This is the type of style of character I want to create, where the body features have been made smaller/stylised and the facial features cute.
Looking at swords and daggers for reference of what my protagonist could use for a weapon. My favourite weapon in a RPG is the mastersword (shown last image) perhaps I should design a weapon similar for my character.
Here's good examples of character design sheets from the Hyrule hystoria book. These pages are for the development of Link and Midna the main characters from Legend of Zelda: twilight princess. I took most interest in how the facial expression grids had the same face template for each different expression.
Feeling stuck on how I wanted my protagonist for my game to look like. So I thought of what fashion had, a comfy/woodland/street feel to it and looked into the Japanese fashion called "mori" meaning forest. Looking at this fashion I tried out clothes inspired from it on my character. The results helped me start to see the beginnings of my final design.
I wanted my protagonist to have a companion dog that looked loyal, cute, strong and brave. I looked into rare breeds of dog trying to find an unusual looking dog as in RPGs, uncommon animals are often used as inspiration. I didn't find much fitting, but I took a shine to the breed Ken Kai, which is a japanese dog often shown in anime but is a rare breed. I drew from photos to get the shape right and continued to style and digitally colour as an experiment. Pretty much at the end of my design for this pup.
I've always felt that sonic had great shape for a character. my personal favourite sonic designs were in 1991, 1999, 2001.
Gaming mascot characters. Segas Sonic the hedgehog, and Nintendos Mario.
these are obvious examples of how important character design is when branding.
