Oh, hey! Look who went to a Bigfoot festival and then recorded a show podcast! Half of @pdxwitchguild
We have snacks and snarks
In the introductory episode, Rune and Felix dish on what it means to call yourself a witch, discuss the mechanics of metaphysics as applied to one's personal magical practice, and read on various topics using the same limited edition sparkly deck.
Here’s the official site for the first podcast episode! You can point your podcast app to the RSS feed there to get the newest episode whenever it’s posted! The main page to see all the episodes listed on is here, though of course there’s only one episode so far.
Next I’ll figure out how to get it onto iTunes!
This is the same podcast episode as what I posted last night, hosted by myself and @grimoire-of-geekery! Now it’s got a nice organized page that everything is on and that you’ll definitely be able to access on mobile, plus an easily findable RSS feed.
This episode was really neat to do because I got to talk a lot about the mechanics of my spirit art and how it works as a magical practice, so if you’re curious how that works, then listen in!
@da-at-ass is a @pdxwitchguild member and has another podcast! I’m stoked to listen to this!
Our members do cool stuff
Spring Has Sprung!
So let’s have a meet-up! :D
WHAT: Come hang out with the witch guild! Bring a snack or drink to share, if you feel like it. There’s no proposed theme this time around (yet), but maybe we can talk about how the winter was and how we’re doing now that things are growing green again?
WHEN: Saturday, May 20th at 4:00 pm
WHERE: Overlook Park, off Yellow Line MAX, under the big giant tree (pictured below).
@blue-index @upthewitchypunx @da-at-ass @violetwoolgathering @youlooksosmall @lemonbalmgirl
The PDX Witch Guild Podcast theme song in its entirety, just in case you wanted to hear it.
I love it so much. <3
I want it and the sound of rain and crows to play every time I walk into a room. THE BEST.
I told this to Ian B and he liked it. We could make a loop that toy could plan on your phone.
This is SO lovely
We are a guild of witches, not a coven. We all witch differently, none of us are Wiccan, and we all live in the Portland, Oregon area. Join us for discussions about our craft. Topics discussed include: Practice building, spell construction, thrift witchcraft, history, folklore, and making magic with what ya got!
So, here’s what we have been working on over at @pdxwitchguild . A podcast! I’ve spent too much time tweaking things today and am frustrating with the tumblr embed thing so this just what you are going to get for now.
The Wrong Question Many Answers or why we are witches, not Wiccans. Come along for a trip down several practitioners witch-jectory of origin stories. Get to know some members of the guild, sources of our inspiration, and places that make Portland special to us.
Guild members in order of witch-jectory stories:
-Emrys is a glitch witch, book hoarder, and herbalist. They tend to wear bright colored lipstick. blue-index.tumblr.com
-Alex in an agnostic secular witch, friend of crows, shrine building enthusiast and puts witchy stuff on the internet at upthewitchypunx.tumblr.com (Gemini Sun, Leo Moon, Sagittarius rising)
- Mary is a secular cottage witch who also loves to read, be silly, and make art. She blogs about witchcraft, among other things, at lemonbalmgirl.tumblr.com
-Esme is a fictional character from the Discworld books, but also our resident witchbrarianan definitely not and orangatang.
-Bea is currently out of the country on a secret mission and we think she is pretty neat.

Thanks @upthewitchypunx for all this hard work. FINALLY THE PODCAST IS HERE We will start having meetings again when the weather decides to be nice.
Before and After @upthewitchypunx here is the gif promised you
Before and after When you gather together drink tea Or cider Really excited to show you all what we've been working on!
Hey folkx! Got some news fresh from a crow for you all. As you may have noticed we haven't had many meetings during the cold. We're going to put off having in person open meetings until it warms up enough to meet at parks again. So stay tuned! Additionally we have something brewing in the cauldron, and when it's done we'll let everyone know know This mug is @upthewitchypunx and held super tasty tea
American Sailor Moon fans: the first batch of theaters for the Sailor Moon R movie screening has been revealed, so go see if your city is listed! More theaters will be added in the coming weeks.
Portlanders! @pdxwitchguild! Friday January 20th at 7PM this will be showing at the Hollywood Theater. No info on whether it’s subs or dubs but they’re an artsy theater so I’m hoping for subs.
This is a great idea!
Okay so I know cultural appropriation is a bane, but what if you are given the chance to be initiated by, for example (among many others), a voodoo, is it STILL cultural appropriation ?
No, of course not. Cultural appropriation is the taking of something out of the original cultural context with no understanding of the actual original context and trying to make it your own. If you have done your work and are respectful and have been accepted or initiated into a closed religion or culture, you are part of that culture.
“A voodoo.” Wow that is some phrasing. Anon try using “Vodou” and then… a noun afterwards, like “priest.” And if you’re serous about Vodou interest go talk to @rockofeye, but this sounds like one of those “just saying Vodou because it’s an easy example to use in my hypothetical question” occasions.
I see a lot of people ask about initiation and teaching when it comes to closed religions but please remember that it’s not like initiation is a magic wand that makes everything okay. Initiation is something that brings you inside a tradition but with it comes responsibilities and rules you are expected to fulfill and follow. It often requires certain commitments be made beforehand and certain acts and tests be passed. You don’t just get given a handbook afterward and patted on the head. You’re usually expected to interact with and become a real part of that community and make them a part of your new life. It’s not just a free pass to make that religion part of your eclectic practice, you have to also follow the religion’s rules afterwards.
I know you responded to this because I get notification from all the @pdxwitchguild on my phone but it did not show up in my activity at all grr.
That being said, yes. it’s not like shopping for groups to dabble in. These sorts of things are serious dedications and often permeate all aspects of life and community and should be honored and upheld in the way of that group.
Lets get spooky
So I’m a busy bee but I wanted to try and get a meet-up in before winter!
THEME: SPOOKY HALLOWEEN ETC.
DATE: OCTOBER 29TH
PLACE:TBA
Honestly, since its getting colder I think we should have it inside, but I’m not sure where? I was thinking maybe tabor space, but I don’t know a lot of free , indoor public spaces. If people are okay with cold, lets have it in a park.
@lemonbalmgirl @da-at-ass @upthewitchypunx @youlooksosmall
and any one else, thoughts?
I know it is cliche of me but libraries have free indoor public space. Probably we could reserve a small (non-fee) conference or study room? Usually they are available for between 2-3 hour chunks and have a max capacity of somewhere between 6-10 people, but I don’t have a Multnomah card yet though to make the reservation.
@youlooksosmall I hadn't thought of that! Can you make a room reservation if you're card has fines on it?

I think those of us at the last meet up were throwing around the 15th as a possible meet up day because of schedules, but planning never got further than that. Personally, I’m unavailable on the 29th. :( Also tagging @rootsandstars.
If you all are okay with it being at 4 ish I'm okay with doing it on the 15th. I just thought it might be a little short notice!
