now… is my favoritism showing? LOL i freaking love rainwings. per usual my original rainwing hc design from a few years ago is in the corner… i used glory’s colors for this redesign, so this can just be considered my glory headcanon design

before, i think i had given rainwings a vague butterfly-inspired design theme, with those big butterfly wing ears. now i’d rather confine butterfly themes to silkwings, so i’ve instead given rainwings a flower motif, inspired by the awesome way @/rotten-m3 draws glory. these flower frills can be smoothed or fluffed up at will and to emphasize emotions, show off, etc… the size and shape of them can also vary quite a bit from rainwing to rainwing. also of course, colors and markings are highly variable.

now, sadly i have taken away the sparkly scales that i originally gave the rainwings… sorry, but i can’t give rainwings ALL my favorite design traits hehe… instead, they are covered with smooth, soft, snake-like scales, with soft and velvety fur on their face and underbelly.

for skywings… no more feathers! no feathers for any dragons here. very sad. but i didn’t like them having feathers when no other dragons did… so, a very standard western dragon look it is. they have short, coarse fur on their underbelly/neck as well as their face. i also wanted them to be Long and Tall…

for seawings, nothing much changed besides making them longer and shorter. i was already pretty happy with the design; i think the big fin tail is fun, and the wings are very easy to draw lol. i’ve duller the colors, as i’m sure there could be seawings with the original coloration i used, but an average one would probably be more sea-blue.

the icewing was very fun… like the old design, i wanted it to be very very fluffy, though i did tone it down somewhat. i didn’t draw scales here (you can see i hardly drew scales on the others either lol, i got lazy) but like the others, the body is mostly covered in hard scales. the icewing has more fur coverage than the others though, with the ears, face, neck, chest, tail, and feet all having thick, fluffy fur. i ended up giving it the classic icewing head spikes… i imagine there can be a lot of variation with those between individuals. and of course, i had to make those scales sparkle!

My recommendation for Pantala dragon wings is to really block out the shape before sketching it. Don't worry too much about accuracy, focus more on having it flow nicely. If that makes any sense....also look at pictures of butterflies, moths, dragonflies and wasps. 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️

gotcha gotcha… i’m not one to care too much about accurate anatomy (obviously, lol) but i probably HAVE been focusing too much on trying to make the wings still look “dragon-y” or accurate to the canon art. i think i’ll just abandon my attempts to incorporate the wing bones at least lol

sorry for my absence… i’ve been too busy and too tired to draw much, and i feel i’ve regressed skill-wise. however, here is a sketchy redesign of my nightwing species headcanon design from a few years ago. i may do a few more… this is just meant to be an average random nightwing, but she kinda looks like twilight sparkle! so i’ll call her… starweaver? though “twilightsparkle” might be a valid nightwing name too, lol. some notes under the cut

i enjoy fluffy wof designs… however, i abandoned the fluffy design here in favor of a smooth, velvety look. i’d still give plenty of fluff to other tribes (icewings and silkwings for sure, as well as some visible fur on sandwings and skywings, among others), but the fur here is now confined to the underbelly/face and is very short and smooth. i think most dragons in my headcanon would have at least SOME fur… i’m thinking of them as sort of “reptilian mammals”.

for nightwings, i’ve kept most of the old design things i added… bat nose, bat ears, and curved horns would be standard for nightwings in my headcanon. like in canon, nightwing coloration would be dark, desaturated, and usually monochrome. brighter colors are confined to accents such as the star-shaped scales lining the underbelly and the sparkly “star” scales on the wings. this nightwing is probably more saturated than i should’ve made it, but whatevs

We used to live a simple, safe life, trying to provide our children with a decent life despite all the hardships.

Our home was our only safe haven, the place that brought us together and protected us from life's harshness.

But the war changed everything… In moments, we lost our entire home, and our lives were transformed into fear, displacement, and daily suffering.

We escaped the bombardment with no clothes, no food, nothing to take with us except our lives and our children.

Even more difficult is that my brother Mahmoud has a mental disability and needs medication and constant care.

Since the beginning of the war, obtaining treatment has become extremely difficult.

Every day I fear his condition will worsen due to the lack of medication and the harsh conditions we are living in.

My children now live without a home and without stability.

They go to sleep in fear, asking me when we will return to our normal lives.
