"Mommy, where'd daddy go? He hasn't been home in a long time."The dark haired child, was playing with one of her braids as she looked up to her mom.

           ” He’s on a hunting trip. “

           One they knew was risky. A dangerous area; and the           weather hadn’t exactly been ideal but they needed food.           And of course he volunteered to go. She thinks he did it           so she wouldn’t. He knew just as well as she did they wouldn’t           leave their daughter without one of them there and well if he           stepped up for the hunting trip first, she wouldn’t dare.

           But they were supposed to be back days ago. She believes           in his ability to survive, in his will to get back to the both of them           but every hour that passes without word on their party sends a           new wave of dread through her.

           ” He’ll come home soon, baby. “

           And she isn’t sure if she’s trying to calm her daughters nerves or her own.

"Did you love mommy at first sight?"

               "Pretty much, yes." After they got                     past the initial reflex that the small                     cave induced to fight for their lives,                      they'd talked and he had all but fallen                     completely for her. "Your mother is                      kind of a storm like that."

"You're lucky to have fallen in love with an angel. do you think a boy will feel lucky to love me one day?"

             "I believe that someone will                        And anyone who doesn't....                           Will get their ass kicked."

"Mommy, did you really fall from the sky?"

           For some reason she doesn’t feel comfortable with the question.           She’s joked time and time again about falling from the sky and about           being an angel. But the truth is she was hurled to Earth by her people           to see if she could survive.

           ” I did, sweetie. You’ll learn about this in history someday.             Me and a lot of others came to Earth from space. “

             "I think your moms had a little bit too much of Uncle                   Jasper's happy juice."                                 Nassir shook his head, and passed a sort                                  of glare to his partner who didn't seem to                                 be paying any sort of attention to them.                   "But you're my little angel, so I guess you could say that."

           She ruffles the girls hair with a laugh,

"Daddy?" The young boy called out, a small patting against his father's leg to draw attention to himself. "Is it true that mama fell from the sky? How did she fall from the sky?"

           "Why don't you ask your mother?" He smiled at his son,                unsure of how to answer, it was true, his mother had fallen               from the sky, but how was he supposed to explain that               concept. "I'm sure she'll be able to explain it better than I will."

"How can you be so sure?" He gave her a  Serious, inquiring look. As he moved closer attempting to back her into a tree.

           A grounder who didn’t hate her people. She’d expected as            much from him, after all he’d had two chances now to kill            her and hadn’t done it. Lucky for her. And it’s not like he’s            the first of them to want peace instead. There was Lincoln            as well.

           ”     Don’t do anything stupid because of those beliefs. “

           She isn’t sure why she says it. But she knows that Lincoln            had been branded a traitor; and she thinks it’d be a pity for            the same to happen to him.

He didn't hate her people, in fact he found the stories she had to tell fascinating. And he enjoyed her conversation, she made a good, stimulating partner to engage.             "I'm the logical one, my sister's the one you should worry about." His sister was the one who would spout her beliefs to anyone who would listen, only to have her death ordered for weakness. Warriors couldn't afford weakness.

        She heard him before she saw him — she almost thought         it was one of the sky people for how heavy he walked.          They were always wondering by her tree anyways.          As she looked down from her branch in the tree         she recognized him as one of her own.        ”For a warrior you do not tread L I G H T L Y .”

He looked up to see the young woman in the tree. She was the one that spend much of her time in camp with the Commander.  "If I had intended to spring an attack,  I wouldn't have been detected." He retorted, before offering a smile. "Mind if I join you?"

          ” I can protect myself y’know. “

          So maybe sneaking away from camp wasn’t exactly           a smart idea; but she had an itch to get out and do something.           Whatever that something was, well she wasn’t sure.

          ” And you aren’t going to try and slaughter me?             I mean aren’t your people all about death to the             sky people? “

"Most of them yes."               He nodded, his expression taking on a more               serious look, almost borderline hurt. Most of               his people were all about death to her people.               But he couldn't imagine killing her, granted,               they'd only spoken once, in a cave, during               fog that could've killed them both. But she               was actually pretty fascinating and worth the                company. Unlike most of his own people.                                      "But not me. I share my sisters                                       beliefs on the matter."
