MY CURRENT SKINCARE ROUTINE FAVORITES
1. Clarisonic Mia 2
After using a Clarisonic, I would never willingly go back to cleansing my skin with just my hands. These brushes don’t work with cleansers that don’t lather well, but most do. I’ve tried the acne, oily skin, and sensitive skin brush heads and honestly don’t notice much of a difference between them, but none of them irritate me. There’s a 60 second timer for each session, making my morning and nighttime routine fast and simple. Clarisonic brushes have a way of making your skin feel extra clean, and get the most out of your skincare products. I take off most of my makeup with Bioderma micellar water before going in with the Clarisonic to avoid dirtying up the brush head, which has to be replaced every 3 months to avoid bacteria buildup.
2. DERMAdoctor Ain’t Misbehavin’ AHA/BHA Acne Cleanser
The consistency of this cleanser is a lot like a light lotion when you dispense it. I take 3-4 pumps and lather it into my damp skin. I haven’t been using it for long, but have noticed an improvement in my acne. My skin responds best to salicylic and glycolic acid, which are two of the main ingredients. I can’t say if it’s helped in reduction of oil because I use a handful of mattifying products in my daily arsenal, but it is one of it’s claims.
3. May Coop Raw Sauce
Facial essences have been one of the biggest beauty trends in the past year, and this one is my favorite. I simply apply a few drops to my face after I cleanse, to allow my other products to sink into my skin better and work more effectively. To some this may sound gimmicky, but it works. I’m now on my third bottle, and my skin feels more soft, clear, and nourished!
4. Peter Thomas Roth AHA/BHA Acne Clearing Gel
Similar to the cleanser, this product contains salicylic and glycolic acid. I’m now on my second full size bottle because it helps in the reduction of whiteheads and blackheads. People with non-oily skin types often complain it’s too drying, but for oily skin girls, it’s the perfect mattifying serum. This product also helps to slightly fade acne marks, but I use a face mask with more concentrated glycolic acid a few times a week to do most of the work (post coming soon). The new formula no longer leaves a sticky residue, which is a plus!
