This was my favorite part of the episode. You can see everything that went through Kaye's mind. We had a glimpse of how he felt and how he wanted to get revenge. He took the hammer and at first he was determined to use it against the loan sharks who beat him.

But then, there was a shift in his mind and he didn't act upon his fleeting murderous thoughts. That's when it was sure that Kaye couldn't be the serial murderer the police is trying to find. Otherwise, I think he wouldn't have hesitated.

Despite the anger, it's not in Kaye to kill someone even if they were making his life hell. He quickly abandoned that idea and was only left with hopelessness. He couldn't do it... It must feel like there is no issue out for Kaye and that feeling must kill him inside.
