Habits of depressed people Part 1
1. We tend to stay at home most times, because we just want to be left alone with our thoughts and wanna feel sorry for ourselves.
2. We can’t sleep, but we often pretend to be asleep so people won’t bother us.
3. At first we won’t seek help, because we think we can do it on our own.
4. We start believing that little voice in our head telling us lies and that we are not worth anything.
5. Did I mention binge watching?
6. We either sleep not at all or we need to sleep all the time.
7. Some of us start doing creative stuff like poetry or writing stories to remind us about a time when we were better.
8. We experience mood swings. We go from oversleeping to not sleeping at all, etc.
9. Showers relax. The sound of water relaxes. So we sometimes take many showers on one day. But it can also make everything worse, cause there we can start thinking.
10. We often can’t enjoy our food, not because it tastes bad, but we are so stressed out that it doesn’t taste good.

11 Ways To Heal Your Past Trauma
1. Therapy - speak with a professional who can hold the space. Speaking with a trained professional such as a therapist or coach in a setting where we can speak openly about what we’ve been through can help us to release much of the resistance built up inside. This also allows us to accept the past and start moving forward with purpose, rather than feeling like something’s wrong & not being able to express it.
2. Meditation - observing our dominant thoughts. Being present with ourselves and observing the thoughts that dominate our minds can reveal a lot about where we’re at mentally. If thoughts of the past are coming up frequently this can suggest that there’s inner work to be done - this work can be done by sitting with these thoughts and allowing ourselves to feel the emotions that accompany them.
3. Solitude - working through our emotions. Spending time with ourselves allows us to look within and understand why we feel the way we do about past events, thoughts or people. This is an essential part of the healing journey, without looking within we cannot understand why things have happened and the lesson they have been sent to teach us.
4. Community - our support network. Whether it’s friends, family or animals - spending time with those we trust and can confide in helps us to reduce the feeling of alienation that can arise whilst we’re working through difficult memories & emotions.
5. Love - the most powerful force. Love helps us to conquer all, however the most important love we need to use during the healing journey is self-love. When we love and accept ourselves for who we are, regardless of what has happened to us in the past, we are removing the judgement, shame, guilt and resentment we feel towards ourselves - which is often what hinders our growth.
6. Psychedelics - listening to the plant teachers. There are sacred plant medicines such as ayahuasca & psilocybin mushrooms that can be used to help us with introspection. When we have questions that no one else can answer these tools can help us to look within - they are not here to be used for recreation and must be respected if we choose to use them for healing.
7. Affirmations - reinforcing beneficial beliefs. Having a list of empowering statements or beliefs helps us to get rid of old beliefs that don’t serve us. Affirmations are also a great way to reprogram the mind and create belief systems that empower us to take responsibility for where our lives are headed and use our actions to create the future we desire.
8. Nature - peaceful mental imagery. Filling the mind with peaceful mental imagery such as trees, fields and running water helps us to calm much of the tension & anxiety we can feel when thoughts of the past arise. Much of the negative imagery we feed ourselves from social media, TV and day to day life can manifest in poor mental health, so it’s important to get into nature and cleanse ourselves.
9. Exercise - strengthening the body and mind. Reclaiming our power from past events that may have left us weak in the body or mind requires us to build physical and mental strength. Feeling this strength building up inside of us can help us overcome the feeling of helplessness that can accompany various types of trauma. Learning to fight, running, swimming or lifting weights are all forms of exercise that can help us to built mental and physical strength.
10. Food - we are what we eat. Indeed, the past can make us feel bad about ourselves and when we eat junk food or foods that aren’t serving us - we are reinforcing this negative perception we have of ourselves. We need to start seeing ourselves as worthy of a fit, healthy and functioning body & mind - this starts with what we choose to feed the body. Feeding the body junk foods will produce junk thoughts that don’t serve us and hold us back on the healing journey.
11. Authenticity - being true to ourselves. Removing anything remotely negative from our lives is the key to accelerating our healing process and this means unapologetically removing all people, places and things synonymous with negativity. We do this out of love for ourselves - not spite for others - we cannot hope to live a positive life surrounded by negativity.
Ignoring the past ensures we remain its prisoner.
Peace & positive vibes.

The ultimate purpose of life is to find happiness or, for spiritual seekers, to find enlightenment, which is the same thing. However, I, Awareness, am already the happiness and the light for which all seemingly separate selves are in search.
