@pedestrain-blog1
I just finished watching Twin Peaks: The Return. I’m no critic, no reviewer, nothing but a fan, but the first two parts felt both right and wrong, luring me into a gray area of interest. Probably (see also: totally) intentional.
Before I get into any thoughts on the plot, I need to address my two minor bones to pick with the casting department. I spent the entire episode wondering where I knew Tracy from… And at the end it finally hit me–she’s the youngest daughter from The fuckin’ Nanny. I thought that bothered me until I did a bit of searching for people’s thoughts on here and was made aware of something that went right over my head, the fact that the guy playing Bill played Shaggy in the live action Scooby fuckin’ Doo. Yeah, that hurt my brain more than anything that happened in the past 120 minutes.
I stared blankly at my screen for two hours, showing emotion twice. I laughed at Dale’s Surface Pro; I cried at Shelly’s kindness towards James (a. We know James isn’t cool, but she stuck up for him! & that’s adorable, and b. I’m so gay). But, despite my nerves/uncertainty/uncooperative bladder that reached maximum capacity at the halfway mark, I couldn’t look away. And with that, I sauntered right back into David Lynch’s trap.
In response to my post last night about receiving things I’ve wanted for a long time and the unease accompanying them: I’ve been granted nothing but closure, and I’m thankful. I didn’t know I needed things to not work out for once. Blank slate.
