For those that don't know, my brother is currently incarcerated, and has been for a long time. I'm longing for the day he walks through those gates never to return. I'm posting this pic because there seems to be a stigma attached to people who are incarcerated. As a society, we tend to turn our noses up as if we're all not one mistake away from being locked up ourselves. As we grow older and get more social medialized we look at stories of those behind bars and dehumanize them. We act as if they don't have children, wives, brothers and sisters. We act as if they aren't a part of a family. They are. They have people who love them the same way you love your brother, sister, mother, etc. Those behind bars shouldn't be discarded like used toilet tissue. Especially here in the USA where prison is big business. Few can relate to the struggle and heartache of going to see your loved ones behind a fortress of barbed wire, metal doors, and numb correctional officers. Being watched the entire time you and your family member interact. Not to mention, after your visit is finished, you walk freely out the door in the presence of your family member (they can literally see you walking to your car) while they turn around and casually go back to hell on earth. Think about taking your kids on a drive for hours to see their uncle, you get to the prison in Damneargeorgia, Fl only to be turned around because of a dress code violation (camo shorts). It's rough... And that's just my side of the story. I wrote all that (hopefully you still with me) just to say remember, we are all human beings. We all make mistakes. Some bigger than others.
