The first of 2009 CdPs I have opened....same domaine, same winemaker, same vintage, just two different cuvees. And how different these are. While they both were completely closed upon opening, bith ended up blossoming after a night in the fridge with some aeration. The A la Gloire de mon Grand-Pere turned into a really beautiful lithe CdP thaf showed off its minerality, licorice, and cherry. Super pretty with some tertiary notes and quite drinkable already. 98% Grenache. The Chante le Merle is much darker and more brooding, and as it aerated, it became cloudy/opaque and showcased deep blackberry and leather flavors/aromas. It was difficult on the first night, but it was quite enjoyable afterward. If I had to do it all over again, I'd get more of the A la Gloire de mon Grand-Pere as it is a style I love, but both are fantastic wines, so no complaints. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cko8bQLtm-a/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
