Yuki's most memorable roles list update:
1. Shimura Ken
2. Draken
Yuki singing A whole new world from Aladdin was damn beautiful. I am lost for words as to how much good it was and how much I loved the song and performance.
I think what I love about Yuki above all else is his freedom and confidence. Not being restraint by anything. It shows in his personality and in his acting also. He gives a sense of fresh air.
And when he does try to restraint himself it also shows in his personality and acting.
I love Yuki so much. He is such a talented, amazing actor. I love everything about Yuki. He is handsome, pretty, sexy, beautiful. I love his voice. I love his acting. He is such an amazing human being.
I might have said these things hundreds of time already. But just felt repeating the same things after today's announcements of his new works.
I don't think my words are ever going to justify actually how much amazing he is.
And Yuki good luck with your new stage "Neptune". You must be working really hard for it.
Finally the trailer for "Hazard Lamp" is released. Yay!
Yamada Yuki and Yasuda Ken are starring in this movie.
And it didn't disappoint. It is as awesome as I expected. I have been waiting for it for a long time.
And another visual for his new Drama in December is also released.
I just finished watching the Chinese anime Link Click. And I loved every second of it.
I will also definitely watch the Japanese dub as Takahiro Sakurai will be voicing Lu guang.
But I also like the Chinese dub it was also very well done.
Personal Rambling on (Princess Tutu) Part 3
Princess Tutu is such a great/masterpiece of an anime that I wish there is a way it would be able to reach to newer generation as well. I don't want it to be lost in the ravages of time. I also found out about it just last year.
There is always an option of live action to revive this anime as it is so old.
But live action comes with its own problems. First I think it would require a Netflix show because of budget reasons regular Tv drama production would be a bit difficult. Second I want all Japanese cast with very good actors as this story deserves very good acting and anime sure is very well acted. Third this anime is so good that I don't even want a live action but if there is it would have to be exactly the same as anime, every word, every scene, no addition or subtraction of anything because it is such a delicately written story that even changing or adding a single line can change the final outcome of this story. Every scene and every line in this has a meaning. Also no changing of the costumes, I love their uniform, simple ballet outfits, not very extravagant, Fakir's Knight costume or Mytho's Prince costume or even their regular clothing. Also Fakir and Ahiru's first Pas de deux on stage with white and gold work.
I even want the trailer to be the same as anime's promotional trailer. (with Fakir kissing Ahiru scene and Light in the Darkness and Darkness in the Light line. Infact I want the whole trailer as it is).
This anime has such beautiful scenes and animation that I even want every scene and every angle of the shot to be same as anime. I also want all the visualization of the anime to be same in the live action. Because of all the implications in the story.
The only change would be acceptable to me if they just age up the characters a little, like make them college or university students but with boarding accomodations (and uniforms just make an exception ok🤪) and when they reach the end of the series just show one extra scene of Fakir writing a story and making Ahiru human again and her running towards Fakir and hugging and kissing him and Fakir lifting Ahiru in the air responding with the same. The scenes involving Fakir and Mytho in the beginning, would not mind if it will be toned down a bit and if not it's still ok. (It was difficult to watch a little).
(Yamada Yuki as Fakir is a definite cast)
But alas there is no perfect world as such so I just have to wake up from this dream 😤🙄😒😔😟😢😩
Personal Rambling (on Princess Tutu) Part 2
There are so many little gestures throughout the series between Fakir and Ahiru that I love, like when her friends were trying to convince Ahiru to send love letter to Fakir, she didn't even get flustered at the idea or turn down this idea, she was just thinking about Fakir's reaction to the letter. (lols) Ahiru doing the "l Love You" gesture/mime towards Fakir. (You know Ahiru you could just have told Fakir about the gesture Mytho made in class without showing it to Fakir but no she had to make that gesture towards Fakir heh). Her dreaming of Fakir after rescuing Mytho and wondering what she is doing and going on about her being Prima Donna to the Prince but her mind is still stuck on Fakir's well being. All of their walks together at night or day, between school and Fakir's house or elsewhere. And how could I forget all of their bedroom talking scenes. Ahiru watching Fakir when he was communicating with the oak tree before going to school and staying there too long, watching him and forgetting about school class. Uzura had to remind her. I also love all their disagreements and little fights. How could I TOTALLY FORGET about Ahiru defending Fakir in front of drama club when he was not even present there and again defending and being on Fakir side against Autor (1st one was when she thought he was threatening and being rude to Fakir) on multiple occasions. And Ahiru defending Fakir in front of her friends in Mytho pushing case. 😱😲😬🤦 Those are also one of my most favorite scenes between them.
Also I want to know what were the things Fakir told about Ahiru to Uzura after his suspension from school. This scene was also cute knowing Fakir was talking about Ahiru to someone else as if he was missing her.
Their relationship also does have some interference from Drosselmeyer. But the visualization of the show still reminded the viewer about their love. The last episode when they are thinking about each other, their shadow, silhouette overlapping each other as some couple who are in pain and missing each other, calling out to each other. The visuals were like of the lovers who are apart. Or showing them side by side as a couple when returning the pendant to Mytho.
To take the snippet from my previous post, Ahiru was definitely head over heels in love with Fakir. There is also another instance which shows that Ahiru only had a brief crush on Mytho, when Mytho comes to Ahiru in Raven form she was scared of him (and it was not the first time she saw him like that) she admitted it herself that she was afraid. She still goes to help him in another way but unable to embrace him, and Rue was accepting and holding him towards her chest in an embrace. (Ahiru was holding, caressing Fakir towards her chest in the oak tree episode).
There is another scene in which Fakir and Ahiru are walking in the cave to save Mytho and here she starts talking about how she don't know the reason or not being sure as to why do she even like Mytho (personally I don't think you need a reason to like or save someone but I guess that was bothering her) and Fakir give her the reason when he told her about Mytho's personality, how he still wants to save helpless even after losing his heart, and later she also uses this reason with Rue in the lake in the cave battle to resolve herself. The end result was that the Princess who was supposed to love the Prince enough to sacrifice her life to save him fell deeply in love with the Knight without her realizing it. The Knight whose job was to die trying to protect the Prince also fell deeply in love with the Princess. The daughter of the Prince's enemy always loved the Prince and was ready to sacrifice her life for the Prince and her love actually reached the Prince and he loved her back. The Prince who had a doomed fate of shattering his heart again and again was saved by the collective efforts of both the Knight and Princess but at expense of their own love. Both of whom hold the Prince in high regard and were loyal to him. The Knight and the Princess also managed to defy their fate of dying and lived and saved the whole city from the Raven but no one will remember their role as it was not their story, people will remember it as the Prince saved the city from the Raven. They also have to suffer heartbreak as they are alive but can't be together for now but there is also hope that in the future the Knight and the Princess can be together as the Knight has also a very powerful skill, the words he write can become a reality. Throughout the series Rue is struggling with the identity crisis. Should she be daughter of the Raven or just Rue. She wanted to be accepted by his father who was very abusive towards her through his words, so in order to please his father and gain his acceptance she was doing whatever she can. She also just wants to fulfil her duty as the Raven's daughter and Raven just manipulated her from the beginning. She only found solace even as a kid only when she was with the Prince. And in the end she chose to be Rue when she was the most happy. Rue and Mytho also have a lot of bedroom talking scenes.
Raven blood Mytho and Rue scenes were, for a lack of better word, I would describe as toxic married couple relationship (it was also a bit hard to watch) but Mytho before raven blood was always kind to Rue. Rue first has to deal with his emotionally abusive father and now his beloved prince was also being toxic towards her and it was due to her soaking his heart shard in raven blood. Rue also had to watch how his beloved was slowly descending towards madness. Rue has a lot of layers as a human cast character, just like Fakir. Her struggles were also genuine. And as purely Rue she was not that bad a person, just as shown in the anime before her accepting the role of Kraehe.
Also I think Ahiru cried when Mytho chose Rue as his Princess was because she realized what were the implication after that as she had to let go of the pendant and become a duck and she did have a crush on him. But I don't think at this time she still had crush on him, at this point in time/story she just genuinely wanted to help him, save him, just as Fakir (she also said that this feeling is her own in the Fakir rescuing Ahiru from Drosselmeyer grave scene). And don't forget she also loves to battle and losing and getting rejected does hurt a bit. When she came back to return the pendant the words of Mytho made her realize that her feelings were also reached to Mytho. Also there was some manipulation from Drosselmeyer regarding her feelings for Mytho.
I loved and loved the all the voice acting in this anime especially towards the end when Fakir (Takahiro Sakurai) called out Ahiru's name in so many emotional ways, softly, like whisper, while crying and in all kinds of manner. Another special mention is episode 20 with Fakir and Ahiru fight over his power of changing his writing scenarios to reality. When he goes all quiet, talking in whispers when Ahiru mention his abilities and afterward both of them having argument with raw emotions is swoon worthy.🤤🥰
Geez I just love this anime way too much.
Most memorable works of Yamada Yuki.
For me there are 2 types of work/play:
1. The one which you see, enjoy for the time being than after that forget about it.
2. A work/performance that is so good that it touched your heart and you end up remembering it for a long time, a memorable work/performance.
So here is the list:
Joe from Gokaiger
Klaus from Trump reverse stage
Takayanagi from This is ethics from now on.
Murayama Yoshiki from High&Low
Ando from Yamikin Dogs
[Other special mentions are]
Asahi from Equation to erase the teacher
Kuroi from Holiday love
Kohei from Saninn no Papa
Yamaken from My little monster
[ And soon to be added in my memorable list ]
Draken from Tokyo revengers
And I have a feeling for some reason that the character from Hazard Lamp movie (I wonder when trailer or teaser trailer will be released for this movieyu) and his new stage will also be in my memorable character list.
I also like the way Yamada Yuki talk so frankly, like a normal person, without hesitation, so freely, and sometimes making mistakes like any other person. This is also part of his charm.
So please please also don't change the way you talk or interact with others, your way of talking (easygoing, normal/common language) makes the fans relate to you more easily as they also feel relaxed listening to you.
In a sense Yuki is definitely a very unique person as an actor.
Did Yuki forgot how he voiced Joe in Gokaiger. Or was he instructed to not use his deep, strong voice. He sounded a bit different in the movie trailer from the earlier Gokaiger series. It was like someone else is speaking instead of Joe. It felt odd. It's like there is no force behind the voice. It felt like he was trying to suppress his voice, which is odd, as it takes away the emotions from it and make it sound unnatural .(Both Draken and Joe). Previously there was a force in his voice (strong, forceful voice) just like others Gokaiger. I was also expecting him to use this voice as Draken as well. His deep voice, but he didn't. (He might have forgotten how he voiced the character, after all 10 years have passed, and he has done so much more characters in between perfectly. He might even have not enough time to get into the character as I remember he was very very busy at that time. Or he might be instructed to do the role that way which is highly unlikely. And I have not even watch the whole movie, so my assumption from the trailer could be entirely wrong). And for Draken the voice might be just perfect. I actually love his, a bit more deeper voice.
I wanted to reserve my opinion until I watch the full movies, but I couldn't resist as this was bothering me alot. So please bear in mind that my assessment is based on only both movie trailers. where he only spoke 1 or 2 line, or even just some small words. I have not watch the full movies yet. Well let's see, I will know for sure when I will watch both movies completely.
My guilty pleasure is imagining Yuki as Fakir and Yoshizawa Ryo as Mytho from Princess Tutu. (And bonus Asuka Saito as Ahiru).
Yay! Another one with Sakurai Takahiro lead.
This game looks so cool. The story also seems very interesting and intriguing. I am excited to see this unfold.
A cute, vulnerable, handsome and pretty Yuki.
It is a great honor, to see Yamada Yuki chosen to play Shimura Ken who is such an important celebrity in Japan, to give tribute to him. I am really happy for him to get such an important role and be remembered.
But please please don't make comedy roles for Yuki a thing as he is also very good at serious roles. Even the poll of favorite characters played by him few months ago show the result that his fans love his serious acting so much. 2. was Ando from Yamikin Dogs, 3. was Joe from Gokaiger and 4. was Takayanagi sensei from Koko wa Ima kara Rinri desu. (1. was Murayama Yoshiki from High and Low series).
Also this man is just too Beautiful, Handsome and pretty.
Personal Rambling (on Princess Tutu)
Ghost Knight story in the anime is definitely a perfect fit for Fakir, as the dance in the lake is so sad, beautiful, cruel and tragic. (Their last dance together as humans). Fakir definitely did not want to let go of Ahiru, as the ending of the story/letting go of the pendant means Ahiru in duck form. But for the sake of the Prince and people of the city, he had to. He was not just convincing Ahiru but also himself. And in doing so he himself sacrificed his lover, just like in the story of ghost knight when the knight has to sacrifice/kill his lover for the king and the country. The look he gave to Ahiru in that scene was of a man who loved the other very much but couldn't be with her. Both of them were looking at each other like that. The things both of them couldn't tell each other was conveyed through their eyes to the other. Both of them knew that afterwards they wont be able to be together the way, they wanted to be.😢😭😣 And Ahiru was definitely head over heels in love with Fakir. She had chosen him a long time ago. She could not give up the pendant when Mytho asked, but she was ready to sacrifice herself/ let go of the pendant after talking with Fakir. And before that, she was in despair and ready to disappear/end her life as she was not able to let go of the pendant (thanks to Drosselmeyer). Even Drosselmeyer knew that Ahiru's feelings were changing as he has to remind her purpose in the story and that she was only meant to love the Prince not anyone else, when she was imprisoned in the different dimension.
Fakir not only give her the will to live but also make her strong enough by quelling her worries/making promises, to make the decision of sacrificing(by giving the last heart shard to Mytho) herself.
This scene is also parallel to when Ahiru helped others when they were in despair because of heart shards with her dance, but when she was in trouble, the dance with Fakir helped her in which he was leading. She also get to do pas de deux as Ahiru and not as Princess Tutu with her lover as she always wanted throughout the series.
There shouldn't be any doubt as to who loved who or who was meant for whom. The show did a damn good job without spelling out everything (which can be very difficult at times). They don't have to say words of love to each other to make the viewers understand. As there was so much parallel between Fakir and Ahiru and Mytho and Rue. Rue was the one who get to save Mytho in the end, and Mytho was the one who save/rescue Rue, as in Prince and Princess trope.
Similarly Ahiru saved/rescue Fakir many times as well as Fakir saved/rescue Ahiru many times. As this is the job of the Prince, to save their Princess in fairy tales and vice versa.
Whenever Ahiru is in trouble she always goes to Fakir. (Later in the series it looked like she just wants to be around Fakir, that's why she goes to him). (Mytho did not save/or come to rescue Ahiru when she was in trouble, it was always Fakir). And by time we reach the last episode Fakir and Ahiru are practically moaning each other's name. The visualization of the show also left no stone unturned to show this.
(I admit, it would have been nice to see a kiss or confession between them, but i think not being able to do so, gives even more tragic vibes to them. As the show clearly made it visible for the viewers, who loved who. And both of them also knew each others feeling without saying the words out loud as it was visible in the dance under the lake, their expressions told everything. And I think, if they showed any outward sign of affection to each other, both of them wouldn't have been be able to go on with their resolves which they made seconds ago. So they made it an unspoken rule between them, to abstain from showing any outward sign of affection towards each other. It must have been really hard[hurt] for them).
As I found this series after ff7 remake, saving each other part reminded me of Cloud saying about Aerith: "she saved me, I saved her, she saved me again and so on", that's what Fakir and Ahiru were also doing in the whole series.
The first time Fakir saved Ahiru was when she took up the offer of Rue to give up her life to safe Mytho, as the story suggested, but Fakir intervened and told her not to give up and live, and second time was also in the same episode, when Ahiru was losing the battle to Rue and losing Mytho as well, she again thought of telling her feelings while thinking that Mytho did ask about them, and to disappear forever to win the battle and Mytho, but then she remembered Fakir's words and again decided against it, from here you can sense that this dance has become not purely for Mytho but has the feelings of Fakir also involved in it.
When Fakir was sucked in by the oak tree Ahiru was practically groveling and crying for his return just like Rue did for Mytho later in the series, when he became a raven.
Then there was Ahiru saving/rescuing Fakir from the bookmen and in return she was imprisoned by Drosselmeyer and then came my most favorite scene of the story, the rescue of Ahiru by Fakir.
After the teleportation in a different place, the first thing she did was to call out Fakir's name. When Drosselmeyer visited Ahiru here, he had to remind Ahiru her purpose and that she was supposed to love only the Prince but now she has changed.
And when both Ahiru and Fakir started of at the same time, Ahiru resolving her self about her feelings and Fakir have to stop time from going backwards, even though they were in two different places/possibly dimensions, apart from each other, not knowing where the other person is, what the other person is doing or thinking, but they were still in sync, they were thinking about the other one at the same time, and I loved the part where for the first time Fakir said that he and Ahiru will work together as opposed to before when he didn't trust her, always pushed her away, and only Ahiru wanted to work together. When they said "together" in sync, that's when he heard her voice. And of course the famous line he wrote to summon her. 😍😘😗😙😚
(Special mention in this scene is that even though at this time Ahiru was thinking all about saving Mytho but even with all the intervention from Drosselmeyer she did not forget about Fakir but thought of saving Mytho with him and of course Fakir also said this for the first time. In short with all the manipulation from Drosselmeyer Ahiru was still thinking of Fakir).
When Ahiru get to know about the Fakir's power, she always used the word that Fakir will write the story for his most important person in regards to Mytho. And guess what he did write the story about his most important person, and that was Ahiru😊😄😁 (as he couldn't write a word for Mytho). In the last battle with the raven Fakir and Ahiru took the most damage both emotionally and physically. When Ahiru was going to give the pendant back to Mytho, it reminded me of the walk Harry Potter took to sacrifice himself and he also couldn't do it alone so he called his dead parents and their friends back from the dead. Just as Ahiru couldn't do it without Fakir's company and support. Even then it takes a lot of courage to do something like that. And Fakir has to practically put her (the one he cared and loved so deeply) in harm's way himself as he was the one writing the story. He has to watch her getting hurt and tortured by the crows. There was multiple times he wanted to abandon the story and save Ahiru from the crows. At that time the only thing which kept him going was Ahiru's will and his friend stopping him from doing it. And when the raven was defeated and you see all four of them together, Fakir and Ahiru looked the most battered after the battle, emotionally worn out, as if their heart were ripped to pieces in the battle to save everyone.😢😭😣😓
Fakir also always wanted to protect everyone. He felt that he was the one always being protected but in the end he did protect everyone dear to him.
On the matter of Ahiru asking Fakir to give up his sword, she definitely didn't think he was bad or useless as knight, heck he even had pretty good skills with sword. It was just in ghost knight story she saw how dangerous it would be for Fakir to continue as this, she just wanted Fakir to be save, to not get hurt, (to not die) and Fakir chose this option not because Ahiru said it or wanted it, it was also his will to protect everyone and he realized he could not do it with his sword alone so he chose the other power he had even if was too traumatizing for him.
There are 4 main characters in Princess Tutu, two humans, a duck and a story book Prince. In the human cast one was a knight and the other was a villain raven's daughter, who was brainwashed from a very young age, deprived of love and wanted to be loved, what raven did to her was very cruel. I like the fact the change started to come from a human knight who wanted to fight his fate first, the knight character's showed all fragility and vulnerability of humans.
Ahiru was an innocent animal with pure feelings for a Prince who was lonely and in pain. But she was starting to get influenced by the human knight's struggle and feelings and the knight also started to get influenced by the duck's innocence and willingness to help the Prince.
The Prince who was a character of a story book was the only one who was following the story, and thus there was no dramatic change in his character. He was the only one who was true to his character. The other human who was brainwashed into believing that she was raven's daughter by the raven also played the part of the story of "the Prince and the raven" until she realized she was human. Then she also defied what was written for her, as she refused to be be raven's daughter any further and acted in her human feelings. She changed the moment she realized she was human. I like this element in Princess Tutu which shows the will power of human beings.
On the subject of Rue and Mytho, in the end when Mytho turned into a crow and was going to give his heart to raven both Ahiru and Rue were there. But Rue was desperate to save the Prince, you can clearly see that as opposed to Ahiru, there is also no doubt that Ahiru also wanted to save the Prince, same as Fakir, her feelings to save him were genuine but at that time her heart already belonged to someone else.
The two people who were fated to die in the story, a knight to die in vain without protecting anyone, and a princess to vanish after confessing her love to Prince, survived.
In the end both Fakir and Ahiru changed each other. His will to live, to fight his fate, also gave courage and will to Ahiru as well, she also started to think that it's not okay for her to just disappear in thin air, as he wanted her to live. Fakir's determination and courage also made Ahiru move forward, especially in the cave lake. She herself said Fakir always made her strong. And she changed his way of protecting Mytho which was before very abusive and wrong. That was in part because of his own fear of what were the implications of going with the path Ahiru chose. But as he saw Ahiru was unwavering in her conviction to save Mytho in her way and Mytho also wanted that, so instead he started to prepare himself to fight his doomed fate.
This is such a beautiful, unique, classic love story. I love this anime to bits. I could go on writing essay about it and still have a lot to say about this story. (Mytho and Rue relationship is a whole other topic to get into which I have barely touched and I also love them).
I am missing Yamada Yuki so much. I wish next year comes faster, so I can watch his various works. Even though he is such a good and talented actor, there is a dearth of good roles of him. I want to watch him on screen for longer periods of time.
He would have such a divided and less screen time in his recent works. I have not watched these works, as they are not released on dvd yet, but I plan to watch these. But you can guess just by knowing the overall story a little bit. One is Tokyo Revengers where the screen time is shared by all other characters, even though he is playing an important and my favorite character Draken of Tokyo Revengers (and I am really excited to see it). Then there is Gokaiger with the same problem (but also very excited to see it, after all it's Joe Gibken), and the recent Shinsengumi movie about Hijikata (if i am correct the name is Moeyoken) where he would have such a tiny role, also not very important role.
That’s why I am really looking forward to his new starring stage play “Neptune” and the movie “Hazard Lamp” and possibly/hopefully more new drama and movies, so much that I want next year to come faster.
