L’eroe del titolo è un celebre e religiosissimo calciatore brasiliano (chissà a chi si ispira…) il quale per sciogliere un voto decide di lasciare la sua squadra milanese e di andare a giocare gratis nel Taranto per un anno. Pavone descrive mirabilmente l’entusiasmo calcistico eccessivo, quasi irritante, di alcuni accidiosi personaggi che si muovono sullo sfondo delle decadenza, delle mollezze e dei veleni italsiderei tarantini. Un atteggiamento che potrebbe essere facilmente pantografato su tutto il Paese.  (www.booksblog.it)
