There was so much he wanted to say, but he was never good with words or emotions, not like this,He didnt know what to say so he bit his lap. “It matters to you, so to me too, you matter” he said and kept slowly repeating them, Out of the corner of the eye he saw his guitar on the bed, his hands automatically reaching out for it. He kept twiddling with not speaking. After a few minutes he realized he hadn’t answered her question “Whatever makes you comfortable” jay said resigning, not pushing her. Yet his heart screamed at him to see her

Penny sucked on her lower lip: how did they end up like that-she thought, probably for the millioneth time. Somehow, she needed to go to Texas-maybe she’d go for his birthday. As a surprise. Her thoughts moved around her head and a soothing feeling evaded her chest, just realizing that Jay was holding his guitar. She jumped without any warning to either Jay or her cats and got her guitar as well. “Not going to sing anything that’s mine”, she said as she settled back on the bed, in front of the laptop. “But....”, she sucked her lower lip a little harder than before, before she started playing the cheery melody of Beatles’ “Love Me Do”,  “I wish I could write something like that...or any other of their songs”, she chuckled before she started mumbling the lyrics.

The tears that welled up in her eyes caused Jason’s heart to break. He slowly nodded backing away just a little “I wont push Penn, but know that im always here as a soundboard” he said voice softly. He smiled softly at her and with a wink said “It wouldn’t be me if it wasnt” He slowly sighed his emotions were all over the place.He then grinned as an idea came to him “hey Penn you dont need to now but for my bday next month youre singing and no excuses, im giving you a months notice” he said and gave her the best puppy dog eyes he could muster.  

Penny shook her head and felt her heart sinking inside her chest. “It’s not a matter of you pushing me. I’m still going to say no but...it’s the way you’re pushing me. It takes me back to the time I kept asking myself what should I do...should I stay or should I go”, she said quickly and a gasp escaped her lips, almost unable to breathe at that moment. “I don’t think it really matters at the moment”, she moved one of her fingers rubbing her eyes lightly. “It doesn’t matter”, she lowered the tone of her voice. She looked down and instantly next to her, when both of her cats have fallen asleep, again. She huffed turning to the screen as Jay started talking again. She blinked fast and her lips formed a pout. “Are we going to skype on your birthday?”, she asked raising a brow, not sure what Jay’s plans were at the moment.

He just smirked her a dirty joke on the tip of his tongue but shook his head and winked at her “you love it” he said. He looked at her his eyes soft as possible and wanted to reach out and touch her “I want to hear it Penn” he said softly his eyes bright. “You know its still  me right? I  fell for you through that voice and i want to hear it again” he felt a pang in his heart and his voice broke at the end. “no matter what darling, You’re still the best to me” he said smiling. “I wish I was there with you ” he added without thinking and his eyes widened

Penny rolled her eyes and looked down. She didn’t know why but it felt a little too late to be open with her emotions with him. She huffed and shook her head in denial that he was saying all those things. “I don’t want to sing it to anyone. And don’t start this again...please”, she pouted and looked down, tangling her fingers together. Her gaze wandered to the other corner of the room, where her guitar was. She did tell him that it had been a long time since she played, but she had actually wrote that song there. “I wish...you didn’t make it so difficult”, she looked at him on the screen and her eyes started watering up.

Jason laughed as she complimented him his smirk turning into a huge smile. “ I know I’m irresistible” he said laughing. He then watched her with her cats and smiled softly, he rested his hands on his knees and didn’t even realize he was playing with the holes in his jeans. As he watched her he had slowly started to hum, he shook his head and then gave her a smile “ You dont have to feel bad about talking or not talking Penn, I’m still me”. He then laughed as Oscar wiggled and let him down so he could run around and then face her and asked “Did you write anything new?” he cut straight to the chase knowing otherwise she wouldn’t give him a straight answer

Penny rolled her eyes at that and pressed her lips together. “Sure sure, cocky you”, she smiled shyly. There was an awkward aura, probably created by the texts that were sent a few hours ago. Suckling on her lower lip nervously, she looked down, trying to find a way to avoid answering the question. She huffed and raised her head slowly. “I have...”, she lowered the tone of her voice. “I’ve told you on the text”.

Do you just walk around New York and think...wow...I’m living in a movie? All the times I pictured myself being part of “13 going 30″ and “You’ve got mail”....and then, it’s all ruined by cab-drivers having some sort of “who says “fuck” the most times competition on the street?
