Oh I don’t mind me, I’m just over here crying over Severin and the crew and wondering what (terrifying) things Roshani has in store for them after The Gilded Wolves 😰🥺 Who are some authors that you feel like have the most beautiful writing?? Roshani’s prose will never fail to absolutely stun me, she just has such a clever and compelling way of describing things ✨ What are you all currently reading?? I’m making my way through Time of Our Lives and the audiobook of Beneath a Sugar Sky!! 🖤 #thegildedwolves #thesilveredserpents #roshanichokshi #yalit #yaliterature #yafantasy #yafantasybooks #bookish #bookworm #bibliophile #booklover #booknerd #booknerdigans #wednesdaybooks https://www.instagram.com/p/B-NXZqQARZF/?igshid=178iu40hfcu3j
Anybody else starting online classes today?? 🙋♀️ I’m definitely in deep denial that I will actually have to start doing work again, the whole situation just feels so bizarre 😂 What are some 2020 releases you’ve enjoyed recently?? I’m so proud that I’ve actually read a good amount of the ARCs I got from YALLFest this past year, usually I only read a few 🙈 But so far I’ve loved almost all of them! 🖤 #books #instabooks #bookworm #bookish #booknerd #booklover #yalit #booknerdigans #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer https://www.instagram.com/p/B-Fef6hg-dH/?igshid=th6yt5w7nbcq
Anybody else starting to get an eye-strain headache from staring at computers and books all day?? 🤦♀️😂 I’m trying to enjoy my time off by reading, watching some shows, and even writing, but I’m honestly ready for online classes to start so I can hopefully get some routine back. Anyways, have you read any of McManus’s books?? I’ve read all of them (so far) and really enjoyed each of them!! She has a new one coming out that seems a bit different from her previous books, I’m really excited for it!! 🖤 What are some of your favorite YA mysteries or thrillers?? 🔎❤️ #books #bookworm #bookish #booklovers #instabooks #yalit #oneofusisnext #oneofusislying #getunderlined #booknerd #booknerdigans #bibliophile https://www.instagram.com/p/B99uc7xATcw/?igshid=zmk1goqapra
What are some March/April releases you’re looking forward to?? 🔍🔦 The Silence of Bones is a Korean mystery/thriller that’s been on my radar for a long time now, I’m hoping to be able to start it soon!! It combines a spooky mystery with historical fiction, which honestly sounds perfect for me 🖤 With all the recent craziness, I think it’s super important to be buying/reading/promoting books by debut authors (or just book releases in general) since bookstore events and tours won’t be happening like usual. I’m also planning on ordering a book from the local indie store near my university later today! 📖 What are your plans for the rest of this week? Books you plan to read?? ✨ #books #bookish #bibliophile #bibliophilelife #booklovers #yalit #mystery #thriller #thesilenceofbones #fiercereads #bookworm #instabooks #booknerd #booknerdigans https://www.instagram.com/p/B94bHiig2Yt/?igshid=wrjiq1ki0h92
It’s a cozy Saturday afternoon with my tea dragon friend Rooibos ☕️🌱 Have you all read the Tea Dragon Society books?? They are my favorite graphic novels ever!! (Though to be fair, I haven’t read nearly enough graphic novels.) The art is stunning and the characters absolutely adorable, you can read them in an hour or less and they’re just the perfect stories for lifting your spirits ❤️✨ What are some graphic novels you recommend?? I definitely want to get into reading more of them! There’s a graphic novel workshop class at my university that combines art and creative writing majors, I’m planning to take it sometime soon so I need all the background knowledge I can get! 📖💥 Also random question: Does anyone know if @owlcrate made a matching paperback edition of Tea Dragon Festival?? I seriously need it for my shelves haha! #theteadragonsociety #theteadragonfestival #onipress #graphicnovel #books #bookish #bookworm #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #yalit #instabooks #booklover https://www.instagram.com/p/B9uYru1A3t2/?igshid=19at9m6t6iujw
Have you guys seen the news that Wibbroka is writing an adult (!!) romance duology?? And it’s about a couple that co-writes together? It’s wonderfully trippy don’t you think 😂 After loving Always Never Yours earlier this year, they definitely became an auto-buy duo for me! I’m super excited about their adult romance but even more eager to pick up Time of Our Lives!! It’s been waiting for me to read it since YALLFest and I’m ashamed I didn’t pick it up sooner 😂 I think @jordz_the_bibliophile and I are going to attempt a buddy read of this one in the next week, and I really could use something cute and uplifting given current circumstances. Looks like I’ll be reading a fair amount of romance in the coming weeks! What’s a really good romance you’ve read/watched lately?? Or even just a pairing in a SFF story? Love truly makes things feel more hopeful sometimes 🖤✨ #books #instabooks #bibliophile #bookworm #booklover #timeofourlives #wibbroka #yalit #yaromance #romance #booknerd #booknerdigans https://www.instagram.com/p/B9o_7ZPAxsT/?igshid=8vfpxyfrbqnr
Happy International Women’s Day!! 🖤
Have you guys picked up your copy of Ashlords yet?? 🐴 I just recently read this and LOVED it!! Reintgen truly never disappoints, Ashlords is so different from the Nyxia series but just as captivating and adrenaline-fueled, I literally had no idea what was gonna happen at any point in this book lol! Ashlords is set in a futuristic, fantasy world that gave me Wild West vibes but also Hunger Games feels. We read from three different perspectives (one of which is told in second person beautifully!!), and seeing the different sides of the Races (as in, a big national phoenix horse race) kept me on my toes, waiting to see what would unfold next. Over the course of 5 days, each rider must kill their horse and re-summon it at dawn, creating an alchemical reaction that can bring back their horse with all kinds of supernatural abilities. It’s a really wild time, and I can’t wait for book 2 (the title was just announced as Blood Sworn!!) What’s a 2020 release you’ve read and loved?? 🖤 https://www.instagram.com/p/B76VZGXA5-Z/?igshid=4qijjhv251gl
Hello friends! Hope you’ve been having a good weekend with some good reads ✨ This post is a tad overdue but huge thanks to @wednesdaybooks for sending me a copy of Jane Anonymous!! The synopsis reminds me a lot of the adult thriller Room, but with an added layer of mystery 👀 If you like books that delve into the after effects of tragedy, this one alternates between past and present storylines to portray what happens after a victim is able to escape. Have any of you read this one?? I’m thinking I might try the audio for it! What are you guys currently reading? I’m making my way through All the Stars and Teeth, and just started One of Us is Next! 🖤 #janeanonymous #wednesdaybooks #yalit #bookish #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #booklover #instabooks #bibliophile https://www.instagram.com/p/B7ymClLgkKM/?igshid=tianb8x449ql
The ultimate question: sci-fi or fantasy?? 💫☄️🌲⚔️
So I know everyone is focusing on meeting their GR goal right now (*cough* says the girl who is still 6 books away *cough*), but I wanna know: what’s the first book you’re planning to pick up in 2020?
I just recently read this beauty and enjoyed it a lot! Here’s my quick review: A blend of 18th century Austrian history and faery magic that feels like a spin on Narnia or Sleeping Beauty, Kingdom of Back will definitely enchant a lot of readers! Marie Lu’s writing is absolutely stunning and excellently illuminates a figure in history that deserves a lot more recognition for her musical achievements. Though many YA fantasy books are labeled or marketed as “feminist,” I felt like this book actually embodies feminist values in Nannerl, who learns what it means to support other women, how to subvert a system that effectively prevents her from doing what she loves (composing), and how to speak out for what she deserves while remaining true to herself. Unfortunately, as a fantasy reader, I was disappointed that I found the magical faery elements of this book much less compelling than the historical storyline. I think many people won’t be bothered by this, but the plot is slow, and the action scenes are quickly resolved so that the Kingdom of Back felt atmospheric and pretty to read about, but not particularly suspenseful or action-packed. I definitely found myself drifting off and wanting to skim past certain sections. The plot is also repetitive, the bulk of it consisting of Nannerl and her family traveling around Europe. While this is probably realistic to the historical truth, it made for a dull narrative at some points. I think fans of Holly Black or even fairytale retellings will really love this book! But if you’re looking for a heart-pounding page-turner, this may not be the best fit. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ + ½
A happy belated birthday to this beauty!! 💜
