The last thing Tony wanted was Ellie involved, seemed to be her at the center of the drama though. Reversing his suit, he lined up a shot to match Scotts, but it did little to even nudge Dark Phoenix. What a crap villain name anyway.

Damn his kid had some moves, he hovered near by as Ellie smashed DP across the head. The victory was short lived. The former Jean Grey recovered and had Ellie dangling feet off the floor by her throat. Tony couldn’t take a shot for risk of his daughter.

“Summers! Get on this. You know her. We don’t. I’ll kill you if anything happens to her.”

Pepper had been leading the Avengers with Steve for awhile, but even now she didn’t know about what she was supposed to do. She was so scared that she could hurt Ellie, but still she knew Tony felt the same - so she had to be the level headed one this time.

“This doesn’t involve you two.”

She was just thankful that Ellie was working side by side with Scott, he knew this woman - had trained with her under Xavier, he knew her better than anyone - and even more so he had years and experience fighting that Ellie didn’t. She struggled to not do anything, but knew that it was obvious that the Dark Phoenix didn’t want them involved in this.

“Tony, we need to start evacuating people. She’ll do anything to keep up out of this fight - you know that, so we need to help where we can. Scott, if you two can’t handle this, you better call for your back up or else I’ll call Logan myself, don’t forget that he used to be an Avenger.”

Announcement concluded, it was hard for Ellie not to fist punch the air. Vice President of Stark Industries. Eleanor Stark. Damn that had a ring to it. She knew the burden of the title, the weight of her family and those who depend on their company. Ellie would strive to uphold the family honour. They certainly had a lot of making up to do.

With a few thank-you’s, Ellie was ready to take questions. She didn’t get the chance. The ground trembled beneath her, and before she could blink her parents were suited and booted. The Iron Family. What supervillian had the Avengers pissed off now.

“For fucks sake”

Ellie rolled her eyes, not exactly sure what to do with herself.

“Ok folks, lets get out of here, eh?”

Scott was the first one to see it, how could he not when this attack was so obviously centered around him, he recognized all the signs knew who exactly it was from the moment that earthquake hit who exactly was behind this. It was just a good thing that she hadn’t killed anyone…yet. Still he was confused as to why she’d get involved in this, the Avengers weren’t exactly on her enemy list - no, that was usually saved for the X-Men.

“Jean.”

Scott ran to the back of the crowd where he saw a woman with long red hair standing far behind the press conference. He knew it…it was her - Jean Grey. No..not Jean…she was Dark Phoenix again.

Every bit of Scott was screaming at him to call for back up, to at least call Logan but his heart just didn’t want them involved. Didn’t want what happened last time…they’d lost so many people back then - including himself.

“Jean…don’t do this. I can bring you back to the school, the professor can help you.”

“I don’t need any help…this is about you, Scott - you moved on. Forgot about me.”

Scott could hear the voice of Dark Phoenix resonating from Jean, but he didn’t have much time to think on it before he was psychically thrown by her telekinetic powers, thrown through the crowd and leading him to hitting the stage hard. “Everyone out!” He yelled, when the crowd cleared he stood up and removed his sunglasses, powerful beams emitting from his eyes. When he knew that it hit her he slammed his eyes shut. “Ellie, go to my motorcycle, and get my visor. Now.”

Tony suited up, as reluctant as he often was to get his hands dirty, fighting days he wished were behind him, he always felt invincible in it. As people started charging through the chaos to the exits, Tony tilted his head as Ellie’s boyfriend was hurled like a rag doll through to the front of the room. The culprit was familiar, a blurred remnant of an X-Man. Jean Grey. Super hero. Super villain. Threat.

“Ellie, stay right there. Peps, smack that bitch.”

Tony shot off to Scotts bike, rolling his eyes. Damn motorcycles. Why couldn’t she just have a normal guy to date. Ironic that in all the dangers, Tony was currently stressing over his daughters mans mode of transport. 

Rooting out the visor and blasting back through the doors, Tony tossed it towards Scott, before crashing feet first into Jean, sending her flying backwards.

Pepper nodded to Tony, heat radiating around her suit. Now if anyone were to even touch her they would be literally burned by hot metal. She lifted up a hand and a fiery beam was unleashed through her visor. She was powerful, destructive as all hell (New York City had caught flame more than once thanks to her, but in her defense that last time was every bit the Fantastic Four’s fault as it was hers). There was one little problem...this time she was fighting a phoenix.

“Looks like you’re packing as much heat as I am.”

The cosmic pyrokinesis that Jean was throwing her way was making her nervous. This was going to be a difficult one to handle on their own and as much as she hated it, Ellie could be useful here.

“Ellie, I might need your help here...but be careful.” Pepper growled. Then a small smile appeared on her face when she saw Tony send a blast towards Jean and knock her over...that was until concussive force blast was shot at Tony, knocking him into Pepper.

The prize for Dad of the Year would never go to Tony Stark. But his love for his family immeasurable. He’d move heaven and earth for them. Past failing aside, he was slowly making amends.

Stepping alongside his golden girls, he beamed, both beautiful, both intelligent, strong willed women. The Starks were a force of nature. One not to be messed with.

Tony squeezed Ellie’s hand back and kissed her cheek, giving the cameras a great shot. Who doesn’t love a Daddy/daughter moment.

The air set strangely, Tony’s senses sharpening, something was off, the glasses of water were trembling. The room vibrating. He shot a look to Pepper, this was off. They better get cracking, Tony turned his wrist slightly, slowly, inconspicuously, starting the process of pulling his suit.  He wouldn’t get caught off guard. Not today.

Pepper and Tony had built so much more than just an empire with Stark Industries, more than just the Avengers (though that was honestly more Pepper and Steve then it was Tony); they’d built a family that they could be proud of.

It gave Pepper nothing but pride to see Ellie up front being declared as the new vice-president of Stark Industries - she knew her daughter wanted more than that, but Pepper wasn’t ready to give up on Stark Industries when there was so much more work that she and Tony both had to do to fix the way Stark Industries was long ago - what they had helped it become.

Pepper stood next to Tony and squeezed his hand, she knew that she couldn’t be happier at this moment. But as always, nothing stayed peaceful for long.

Pepper’s iris’ sparked red-orange when she felt the shaking of the ground. As always, she and Tony were both immediately on alert. “Friday, I need you,” she whispered into the watch on her wrist. Soon both her and Tony were being covered in the red suits of Rescue and Iron Man.

Ellie doesn’t feel pressure. She doesn’t get nervous. This is just like every other day in her life, eyes of the world on the Starks, on her, on the Grand-daughter of Howard Stark, set to pick up the keys to the castle. She was stepping in line with her parents. Vice-President, Ellie Stark. Would she have to go by Eleanor these days? Surely not, Dad is still Tony, Mom is still Pepper.

“Fuck”

She grumbles facing herself in the mirror and rubbing off a smudge of toothpaste off before applying lipstick. She blots and can’t help but think of it as war paint. She’s not sure how the media will react to her new position, and what about the people in the company? As far as they know, Ellie is just the bosses daughter, being groomed to take up the torch in 20 years time. Not now. Not in her 20′s.

“How do I look J-man?”

“Wonderful as ever, Miss.Stark.”

“Thanks bro.”

Moving through the house, she meets her mother in the kitchen. Holding her hands out for outfit approval. Sleek black dress, louboutins with their trademark red heel, and her hair pulled back.

“ Tell me I’m ready for this, Mom?”

Pepper had everything she could have ever wanted in her life. A fiancee she loved more than anything, two beautiful children, power in Stark Industries and kick ass superpowers. What was coming was going to become one of the proudest moments in her life, being able to watch her daughter get another step closer to one day taking over Stark Industries - it was so amazing to see how much she’d grown. 

“Looks likes it’s been another successful moment for Rescue.”

Pepper had just gotten done fighting someone named Bane, he was one of the villains who had shown up around the same time that the Justice League had. Now she just had a press conference to prepare for. She flew back to the mansion and got out of her rescue suit, now dressed in a white button up, a black blazer, a denim colored skirt and black boots. She was incredibly excited about this press conference and what it would bring.

“Friday, how are preparations for the press conference?”

“Everything is all ready for both the conference this afternoon and for the after party this evening.”

“Thank you Friday, maybe I can actually trust Tony to handling things himself.”

Pepper walked into the kitchen and soon she saw Ellie, completely ready for the press conference. She smiled and gave her daughter a warm hug. She was so unbelievably proud of her and all that she’d become.

“Of course you’re ready, you’ve grown up so much - you’ve really become an adult now.”

Ellie: I'm mean, I'm looking more to you for that lets face it. Dad isn't exactly renowned for "good life choices".

Mom: Best plan you could possibly have. Listening to Stark men never ends well for anyone.

Big news coming for Stark Industries!

I’m sure everyone already heard about this from Tony, or at least that there’s going to be a press conference concerning the big names in the company. I won’t say anything else about it yet except that it’ll be a big change.

Pepper: What if we make her our VP? We haven't had one since Obadiah.
