𝙸. hii ! i'm lark. ♏︎. she/her. 21+ this is a private rp blog for the character of ingrid gray, robbedotter { daughter to robert gray }, later known as mrs. kersh. this portrayal is canon divergent, slightly derivative of the 1986 novel IT, & does not acknowledge HBO's welcome to derry series in any significant capacity. this is not the mrs. kersh from the series. this is an entirely other interpretation. please be respectful of this. my faceclaim for adult ingrid is rebecca ferguson-sundström.

𝙸𝙸. both childhood & adult stages of her life will be focused here. as a minor, her interactions are exclusive to jay's @pennywise. she aspired to perform alongside her father as a fellow carny performer. her stage name was: periwinkle ! this character is navigated quite differently here through her ability to shine { synonymous with other characters in king's lore, such as danny torrance, abra stone, & dick hallorann, from the shining & doctor sleep }. with the loss of her mother, she & her father reside with a company of other carnies. together they struggle through the trauma of that loss & poverty, until her father abruptly goes missing. weeks later, the orphaned girl is left alone with their caravan once their horse perishes, & the company moves on without her. ingrid, who is certain her father is not truly gone, remains there as visions for which she has no name, promise her that he will return to her. robert reappears in a state of delirium, & disturbing events unfold. something else is slowly, agonizingly, taking the place of her father. much later, as a grown woman within main interactions, ingrid is later wed to an abusive husband by the surname of kersh, who does not understand, nor does he fully tolerate, what makes her different. employed as head housekeeper at juniper hill asylum, which exists a short distance outside of derry - in accordance with novel canon - she is honing her shine, although she still has no name nor guidance for this power. It, the incomprehensible horror that manipulates her through the guise of her dead father, seeks to use this power to Its own advantage... will she relent, or resist?

𝙸𝚅. i will not follow if you don't have any info or rules available for reference. i'm not a mind reader, i don't shine ! i will not follow others in this fandom, unless you can be trusted not to be a creep. the fandom's obsession with sexualizing/shipping minors is scarier than anything It can appear as. i will block that shit on sight. i will not interact with characters from HBO's welcome to derry, as it greatly contradicts much of the source material, & what shapes my portrayal here. just don't be an asshole; i will not tolerate racism, bigotry, ableism━ you get the point. i do not ever indulge drama, & prefer only like-minded mutuals.

𝚅. if you are unfamiliar with the source material, understand there will be... very triggering subjects in writing, & potentially in imagery. i will focus on the traumatic experiences of my character, & write psychological, viscerally graphic horror here, especially in my threads with jaybird, & i have no interest in writing smut, so there will be nothing explicitly nsfw here. i write in third person, i use xkit, & i practice proper etiquette. i ask the same of my rp partners. there is no preference for length, but i do not find short paras or one-liners very engaging... ! thank you for taking the time to read these if you did━ first thing i look at are the rules, so rest assured i read yours if i have followed you !

She let out a sudden sharp breath and had to tighten her throat because what wanted to come out was a laugh of relief. It wasn’t her father at all. Standing in the doorway and looking out at her was a tall woman in her late seventies. Her hair was long and gorgeous, mostly white but shot through with lodes of purest gold. Behind her rimless spectacles were eyes as blue as the water in the fjords her ancestors had perhaps hailed from. She wore a purple dress of watered silk. It was shabby but still dignified. Her wrinkled face was kind.

beverly marsh choosing to confront her childhood trauma through a visit to her old apartment when she returns to derry as a grown woman. going there, dreading her father {fadder} will answer the door. instead she meets "mrs. kersh", & receives the fortunate news that alvin marsh is dead... i am thinking about how this parallels my portrayal of ingrid. in later embracing her shine, when she develops into a grown woman herself, she attempts to communicate with the spirit of her own father. this isn't out of fear, this is out of love. their relationship a direct subversion of beverly & alvin marsh, who was horrifically abusive to his daughter. bob gray was genuinely a loving & affirming father to ingrid! even if ingrid cannot reach her father in this attempt, she is just as determined to confront the source of her own childhood trauma as beverly was! the idea that It, like the false mask of her father, slowly turns into an eldritch perversion of a witch. this mask beverly encounters of mrs. kersh... as the wicked old crone derivative of the fairy-tale hansel & gretel in the novel? hello??

harsh winds battered at the wagon, it seems a chorus of restless spirits. a child sat lone, huddled in the creaking, lantern-lit confines of the wagon. its wooden slats groaning in protest as the wind whipped through the canvas top, like a maddened lash. scents of damp earth & ozone prevailed. the flickering light casts shadows on the walls as the wagon swayed precariously, as though it may overturn. her tiny frame was wrapped in a threadbare blanket, her eyes wide with fear & fascination.

ingrid rises then, & peers out into the maelstrom through a gap in the canvas. amidst the turmoil, a faint, melodic voice pierced the gale, calling out her name. that voice was like a lifeline thrown out to turbulent sea, & ingrid’s heart skipped a beat as she hesitated. ❛ papa? ❜ a small hand reached out to grasp the worn handle of the door.

stood poised on the threshold, the wind buffeted at her gown, threatening to snatch her up from the wagon. her gaze was fixed on the darkness beyond, her eyes straining to discern a voice that seems to come from everywhere & nowhere, amongst those rattling pines. unmistakably beckoning her name. with a deep breath, child presses 'pon the creaking door, & stepped out into storm, her small frame silhouetted 'gainst the lantern glow as she vanished into swirling vortex, crying, ❛ papa! where are you?! ❜
