| His Strength is Made Perfect in My Weakness | I am Christina. I hewed myself into acquiring perfection in everything that I do. Always relying to quantitative analysis, balancing the ratio of probabilities with my extreme works leading to a lot of compromises just to be successful, not until that day when God told me to let go of all these, start doing things right and just follow Him. It was as if for me, nobody would really care. I strongly dismissed every conversation. Comforts don’t agree with me sharing my plate. I need to put up walls. But when I’ve met Jesus, I knew he made reversed of the entropy by revealing himself to every kindness shown and every smile made available by the people he placed in my life. He made sure grace will impact my soul so that in the same degree the love that has been given to me is the same love I can freely give. It is in that moment when suddenly I can see His very eyes through every pair of eyes looking back at me. I am passionate about Engineering. I really love to study. Bookstore is my nest. Spaghetti is my innate food comfort. Writing is my best expression next to prayer and worship. Deeply loved princess of God. This is not just about me. This is also about you, about how God has never stopped being good to us. And about all the things he has done that made us all genuinely grateful.
Jesus didn’t always act in the way that his followers wanted. But, here’s the key: Jesus always acted out of a commitment to a Higher Good.
Jesus didn’t disappoint people because he was selfish. He disappointed people because he understood a much bigger picture than his followers did. He understood how important it was to:
stay focused on what God wanted, not on pleasing other people.
stay true to his calling, not on temporary distractions.
focus on the long-game, not providing instant gratification.
There is a lesson here for us.
To live as Jesus did, you will have to face your fear of disappointing others.
However, my crisis meant I was going to have to do the very thing I hated. I was going to have to disappoint some people in order to prioritize my own health.
The truth is, I am not strong. I only appear that way because people keep telling me “You’re so strong.” They’re relying on me to be reliable. I worry what will happen if I let my guard down just a second. I worry they will worry. Maybe that’s a type of strength on its own. But no, I am not strong. I’m as scared as you are.
If you want to get warm you must stand near the fire: if you want to be wet you must get into the water. If you want joy, power, peace, eternal life, you must get close to, or even into, the thing that has them.
