Hey. Hey, look me in the eyes. It's always okay to be aromantic. No "if"s or "but"s about it. No conditions. No "because aros can still love their friends" (hello, aplphobia and anti-loveless-sentiments), no "because aros can still be in relationships" (partnering aros are not a fucking cudgel to wield against non-partnering aros), no "because they're literally not doing anything" (I'm gonna do your mom and your dad if you don't shut your face), nothing. Being aro is literally fine, period. No matter what we feel or don't feel, no matter what we choose to do or not do, our aromanticism is never a problem to be fixed or mitigated, or a flaw we need to make up for.

Isn't that what its for though? At least, thats what I was taught when I joined the community. I know its interchangeable with the whole spectrum, or at least one of my friends says that.

No, the A only stands for aspec, agender, abrosexual, and any other queer identity that starts with A. It does not stand for ally. The acronym is meant to represent people in the community, and allies are not in the community. Saying the A stands for ally is actually erasing already overlooked members of the community that these “allies” pretend to support.

whenever i see a post about someone wondering how an  asexual and a sexual can be in a healthy relationship there’s always someone being applauded for saying well asexuals can have sex too or just because someone’s asexual doesn’t mean they won’t have sex but i have never, not once, EVER seen someone say well hey, some sexuals don’t have sex. you can have a full relationship without sex. just throwing it out there

Everyone in the notes saying polyamory and open relationships are great fixes for this too are missing the point. Ace people can have sex—and, yes, some enjoy sex. Yes, open relationships can be loving and healthy for ace people too. But ultimately you’re saying asexuality needs to be fixed by access to sex somehow. To quote op ‘you can have a full relationship without sex’. Your suggestion to find sex outside of the relationship with an ace partner completely misses that point.

aromantics can do whatever they want forever

aromantics have as much choice in whether to date or not date someone as alloromantic people do

aromantics can have whatever relationship with romance confuses you the most personally

and likewise, instead of "asexuals can still have sex," take a moment to consider phrases like:

asexuals can do whatever they want forever

asexuals have as much choice in whether to have sex or not have sex with someone as allosexual people do

asexuals can have whatever relationship with sex confuses you the most personally

Aro culture is being EXREMELY frustrated by fictional romance that is written even slightly below average. Especially if it ruins the characters' pre-existing dynamic. Especially if it seems that no one else has a problem with it.

If x label is close enough to your experience that you’d like to use it, then use it. If y label fits your experience perfectly, but you don’t want to use it, then don’t.

The purpose of words isn’t to neatly divide everything into perfect categories, but rather to provide a useful shorthand to communicate ideas.
