For my take away project I have A thick graphic pen and thin tissue paper which people draw on. However the ink bleeds through onto the paper beneath and therefore peoples decisions must be informed by the ones before. So the first drawing impacts what the last one looks like.

At first i went for the idea of broad technology and how the previous technology informed the next but as a started brainstorming I realised that it would be a huge project and in the end become about the technologies and not how they specifically informed each other I then narrowed the theme to photography as it clearly shows the progression of ideas through out time and how particular ideas changed cultural identity

Everything's a Remix

Remix – to combine or edit existing materials tp produce something new

Remix is to copy transform and combine, these are the basic elements of all creativity I think everything is a Remix and I think this is a better way to conceive of creativity

This article provides a brief overview of gamification. It underlines the definition of gamification. Its industry origins within games for example Facebook, angry birds and foursquare. While then further relating gamification to previous methods throughout history where it has been applied under different names and mediums. Ashwell as predicting where gamification is headed from now on. This article will help provide a framework for my essays with factual and relevant information towards my thesis statement. The article itself feels like an overview and I will need to research into different more specific articles for more substantial evidence to back my claim.

This article is an active study of gamification effects within a specific app. It Includes and overview, hypothesis, experiment and conclusion. Specifically the article is a case study where they used an app to and selected part of the users to implement a badge system and them followed the progress and use of the app by each user. They then extrapolated the information and implemented evidence based conclusions on why people were more engaged through the badge system than otherwise. This article will provide facts and reasons to back up my thesis statement. I also feel it is important to looks at the why and this article also referred to many psychological based reasons for the user interactions which I fell will be essential to explain in my essay.

This Article also includes Hamari.J as an author and is a study on all the other studies done on gamification. It looks at the trends of gamification in literary study. Collects and compares these studies in multiple different ways. Discusses the themes such as psychological reasons for such trends that other papers have previously discussed. This article will be a good way to compare and contrast the effects of gamification across multiple studies. Furthermore it is a direct reference to where I can find other such studies. I think the this is a good article to form base conclusions from before taking the research into more depth.

For this assignment I wanted to consider the flaneur and their road to discovery while disagreeing with the core ideal that the flaneur is in essence, random. I decided to incorporate the theme of progression and goals in order to produce my final product. I believe that photography serves a purpose. It is considered, framed and manipulated to create an atmosphere of its own. Photography is not random and even when experimenting with being a flaneur I found myself forming new ideas as I progressed. One photo would influence the next and so on until you find that final photo and achieved your goal. Photography is a journey or consideration and reflection and I represented this in my slide through the use of the images, composition and sound. The images themselves are produced from my attempts and being a flaneur and ending up naturally taking similar photos from various subject matters. All are considered, composed and and create an atmosphere that I envision. After examining my photos I decided to take them into the third dimension and represent the journey I made in a more literal manner. The final image I feel sends a clear message that you consider pieces from your earlier explorations and then mix them together to create a final product. Finally I used sound as the glue to this project. The sound envisions and draws out the already existing themes. The feeling of suspense, a build up, tranquillity and awareness from the compositions themselves and a way to express my own feeling of inspiration. Overall I think this assignment does reflect my own self and art style as a designer more specifically my own journey from the inception of and idea to the final product.
