INCOMING MESSAGE …
FULL NAME: kwon chulsoo ALIAS: hellraiser DATE OF BIRTH: 2122/10/29 ALIGNMENT: neutral OCCUPATION: n/a AFFILIATION: trainee for the ukiyo organization ACCOMMODATION: the ukiyo headquarters, shinjuku FACECLAIM: lee donghyuck
ACCESSING: BACKGROUND …
mental health tw, depression tw
on her best days she calls him soo–
chulsoo’s kinder memories of his mother usually draw from the summer. it’s her best, several scatter of months in the year. when she’s healthier and more amiable, the warmer temperature bringing a flush to her cheeks, a spark to her eye when she looks at him. she takes him to the parks close to their home and doesn’t reprimand when he scampers like a half-wild thing. her small palms pressed on his back to send him flying on the swings and all he sees is the light flickering behind skyscraper windows, the thick smog warping the sun red, and his little blue sneakers that make up for the lack of sky. all he hears is her laughter.
she reads to him every summer night. some of the books have ‘hanbin’ scrawled on the corners and he’s curious about the name, but doesn’t think to question it.
not until he finds the pictures in her diary of a boy.
he’s a nosy child. notoriously inquisitive. and when her back is turned chulsoo’s already elbows deep in her things. the boy looks like his mother. they’ve got the same ears, same eyes. and the dates scratched on the back with ink read– hanbin 2123 while a boy bares his teeth, chin and cheeks smeared with icing. hanbin 2027 with a boy learning to ride a bike. he recognizes the name from the corners of his books, and his mother’s conversations with family.
the word brother doesn’t quite settle right. not for a boy he’s never met. not when the seasons change, and his mother mistakes him for another son.
on her terrible days days she call him hanbin–
his mother is a little difficult in fall. his grandmother always warned him– “your mother is terribly sick.” and she lingers more in the rooms of their home, haunts the halls, and abandons the kitchen. chulsoo and his father are forced to fend for themselves during meals. his mother grows more reluctant to go outside, and chulsoo is trapped in his home with her. when she feels slightly better, perhaps she’ll gather him on her lap. share with him her precious photographs. chulsoo’s own moon-face when he was young. her wedding to her father. and again– hanbin.
his brother looks nothing like him. chulsoo looks like his father– and his mother doesn’t let him forget. she scolds– hanbin was well-behaved, never made constant demands to play outside, never asked for more. and chulsoo squirms on her lap. he tries to be better. he asks for less, and reads more books. does whatever she asks of him.
on her worse days she calls him nothing at all–
in winter, when the weather’s particularly cold and there’s snow collecting on windowsills– she won’t even look at him. his father works, his mother disregards, and hanbin starts to wander. he satisfies his thirst for family with the wrong crowd. boys that slip drugs into waiting hands. men that tuck yen into chulsoo’s pocket for little errands he runs and they spoil him with affection with praise. 'good job,’ 'good boy,’ and soo is desperate for that affection. demands that recognition even at the sake of dropping out of school to help more, always more.
his father finds out. parents talk, teachers call, and chulsoo refuses to go to school. so his father turns his devotion to a son not even connected to him by blood.
his father funds hanbin’s education because chulsoo is a bad investment. like he’s hedging his bets for a winning side, family just poker chips to toss on the table.
so he can’t be blamed when he leaves. three days after he turns 19, chulsoo moves out and doesn’t talk to his father again. the ukiyo dealers take him in. he’s practically one of them already. and soo gets mean trying to please. competitive– he’ll do anything to show up the other trainees because this is his last, damn chance. he’s already been abandoned by blood. and this desperation earns him a steady paycheck. it’s enough to place his unwell mother in a specialized home, and the power of his new family quiets his father’s protests.
hanbin, as far as chulsoo is concerned, ruined his chances. ruined his mother. but he reaches out for his brother anyway because ukiyo has medical records they want quiet, and chulsoo will do anything they ask. even waiting outside the hospital for his brother to get off. even offering information on their sick, sick mother for making the files disappear.
blood might be strong– but chulsoo’s learned it’s fickle.
he doesn’t expect hanbin to hold out for him either.
ACCESSING: PERSONALITY…
POSITIVE TRAITS: passionate, bold, resourceful NEGATIVE TRAITS: volatile, resentful, irreverent
alcoholism tw
He’s got everything to prove. It’s easy to tell soon as he walks in– his laughter too raucous, too loud, all just to fill the room, every corner and space like he’s making himself fit. They say he’s got a desperate need to belong. He calls bullshit. But, hell– it’s true. Easy to tell by the way he’s willing to force himself in if he has too. And everyone knows when soo’s come around because laughter aside– he likes to hear himself talk too. Random shit. Usually nothing heavy, because he’s an escapist at heart. Likes things light. Easy. But once the alcohol starts pouring (and soo’s always drinking) he can get intense. School dropout but he’s not stupid. The kid can rattle off quick facts, plans that look suspect when you hold them up to light (they still work somehow) and he’s great with numbers. Had math-wiz promise growing up but he’d fumbled. Chulsoo had royally fucked up– so he’s trying three times as hard now to make himself something. Not for his father. No– he’s burned that bridge, and he’s got no plans to build something back up so he can cross over. It’s for Ukiyo. He doesn’t stand for scraps. He’s been fed that his entire life from a mother who couldn’t let her first son go, and his father who gave up too damn quickly. It’s for himself.
Chulsoo’s gonna be something– or he’ll die trying for it.

FULL NAME: soyi ALIAS: princess ANDROID TYPE: ETF#351 MANUFACTURE DATE: 2139 PHYSICAL AGE: 26 ALIGNMENT: anti-defiant OCCUPATION: model for fuhen beauty AFFILIATION: n/a ACCOMMODATION: fuhen beauty headquarters, harajuku FACECLAIM: kim hyuna
ACCESSING: BACKGROUND …
MEMORY START:
She sits in the makeup chair, synthetic skin poked and prodded while her hair is pulled this way and that. As soon as she is given permission, she stands and turns back to the makeup artists and hairstylists, a sweet smile on her face as she bows in thanks for their help. They coo over her momentarily, petting her head and face before she is lead out onto the set. The photographer snaps his fingers at her and says ‘give me glam, but make it sexy’. So she does. He says ‘bite your lip,’ so she does. She doesn’t blink at the flash – her latest update keeps her eyes open despite the bright light. He says ‘that’s the cover photo, there’, and so she smiles and bows to him in thanks.
Another model spits in her face backstage at a show. Soyi blinks in shock, fingers touching the wetness on her cheek, as she feels her throat closing and something welling in her eyes – tears? Are these tears? ‘Why?’ she chokes out, voice wobbling in a way she’s never heard it do before. ‘You’re fake,’ the model sneers, and Soyi can hear the hatred blazing in her words. ‘You don’t deserve to be here.’
‘Am I fake?’ Soyi asks her manager that evening, tone subdued and head bowed. Miyoung pauses and turns to face her, frowning. ‘Who told you that?’ Soyi tells her, and Miyoung’s frown deepens. ‘You don’t worry about that girl anymore. I’ll have it taken care of.’
PATCH: MEMORY ERASED
They ask her what she thinks of the movement, on a televised talk show. ‘It’s a shame’, she says, shaking her head with an expression of sorrow. ‘As androids our purpose is to serve and delight humanity. That some believe there are ‘defiant’ androids is both dangerous and undermines our purpose.’ It’s obvious that she means it, that she truly believes it, so they move to asking her about her guest role on an upcoming television series.
There are riots on the TV. Soyi sits frozen on her couch, unable to move as she watches with a horrified expression. ‘NO MORE ANDROIDS!’ they are chanting. Why? Why do they hate androids? Androids had never done anything wrong… Miyoung steps in and turns off the TV. ‘Don’t watch things like that’, she says.
PATCH: MEMORY ERASED
She’s the ideal celebrity, the company and the media agree. She is beautiful, kind, silly when they want her to be, serious when she is told to be. All of her opinions are correct, her talent finely honed to a T. She will never get into a scandal or try to date. She doesn’t need friends or comfort – she returns to her living quarters after shows and keeps to herself. She’s a perfect investment, and everyone loves her.
She’s wandering the halls one evening, for no reason other than that she was bored, when she hears an argument. ‘You can’t keep doing this to her!’ It’s Miyoung who’s yelling it. ‘They said editing her memory was alright in an emergency, not as a standard practice! You’re going to ruin her!’ Soyi pauses to listen, but something must give her away, and the door swings open – it’s the CEO, the head scientist and Miyoung, who is looking at her with fear in her eyes. ‘Ah, Princess’, the CEO says, voice smooth as ice. ‘So sorry if the noise disturbed you, but you shouldn’t be out wandering at this hour. Escort her back, please.’ It’s directed at the head scientist, but even as Soyi follows along obediently, she can’t help but think there was some unsaid instructions in the CEO’s voice…
PATCH: MEMORY ERASED
She smiles on the red carpet, long gown trailing behind her and gloved hands folded prettily in front. ‘Princess Soyi!’ the photographers call, all waving to get her attention. ‘Princess Soyi!’ She turns this way and that, posing perfectly for each flashing bulb, while her manager, Hyewon, waits patiently to the side. She is the face of the industry, she aims to please, and she adores the spotlight.
Even if she can’t help but feel that she’s forgetting something….
ACCESSING: PERSONALITY…
POSITIVE TRAITS: Cheerful, kind-hearted, hardworking NEGATIVE TRAITS: Naïve, Foolish, self-immolating
Soyi is not nicknamed Princess by the media for no reason. She’s the nation’s darling – bubbly, sweet, and programed to always say the right thing. She truly loves her work, and is much more at home in front of a camera or on a runway than she is on her own. As far as she is concerned, her entire purpose is to make human beings happy, and nothing gives her more joy than knowing that she has brought joy to someone else. However, as a result of Fuhen keeping her almost completely sheltered, Soyi is intensely naïve. She believes what she is told under nearly all conditions, especially if it is orders coming from a human. While she probably could be smart, she does not currently see any value in herself being smart, and therefore dedicates no attention to it. More recently, she’s started to feel the slightest trickle of fear that something is not as it seems, but she’s keeping that to herself for now.

FULL NAME: yeon eojin ALIAS: iris DATE OF BIRTH: 2119/12/19 ALIGNMENT: pro-android OCCUPATION: employee at old but gold retro shop AFFILIATION: hacker for the matrix ACCOMMODATION: agata suites, ginza FACECLAIM: oh sehun
ACCESSING: BACKGROUND …
yeon eojin was born in seoul, south korea, in a small household: it was only him, his mother and older brother. he has never met his father, the man left his wife when she was still pregnant with their second child. his absence made things very difficult for mrs. yeon, once the man was the main source of income for their family — and now, she’d have to make up for that, with two young children to take care of all by herself. she didn’t stay home taking care of her newborn as much as she should, as much as recommended by the doctors, because she had to find a job to bring food to her little boys. she worked extra hours, worked on weekends and on holidays, nonstop, just to make sure little eunsoo and little eojin had full bellies — even if that meant her own health was in risk. she’d skip meals just so the two of them could eat as much as they wanted. but she’s a mother, and mothers always put their kids before their own needs. but she managed to raise them as healthy little boys, despite her own well being compromised by it.
though eventually, eunsoo ( the oldest of the two brothers ) got himself a job pretty early just so he could make things a bit easier for their mother. things did get a bit better for them in that time, but that meant little eojin would stay home all by himself for the most part of the day. and as any pre-teen would, he’d spend most of his time in front of the family’s computer. he played games, made friends online, watched funny videos and learned new things. eojin was a good student in school, he was really good with numbers and calculations, but on his computer, he’d do more than that. at first, he got really into puzzle games, those you’d need hours to solve, and eventually, he got into coding. html was something he’s never heard of before and it didn’t take long for him to learn all about it, when he was still only twelve. it’s when he turns fourteen that he finds out about programming, and starts learning about it — being online for so long, he met enough people to help him understand and apply all that knowledge.
eojin found his true passion in programming and coding, and as he got better and better at it, he also started to become braver. bolder. greedier. he was seventeen years old when he started hacking into people accounts — he started small, accessing his brother’s social media and his mother’s bank account just as practice, before he could go further: hacking into other people’s social media as well as bank accounts, but never doing anything too bad that could maybe get him in jail. until he had the opportunity of his life.
he managd to hack into south korea’s prime minister’s phone, go through his contacts and text messages, as well as see stuff that he wished he had never seen ( the old man was a disgusting freak ), and the content of some of the minister’s text messages… it was too good to let it pass. eojin saved all and every information he could get from the man, the undeniable proof of a major corruption scheme right in his hands. he couldn’t let those people get away with public money, not when the country was breaking down with poverty and starvation after past conflicts. he leaks the text messages. he sends it to the country’s biggest newspaper, which spread the news on the same week as they receive the content of the text messages, and it becomes a great scandal.
eojin’s identity remained anonymous, and instead of focusing on the scheme made by the minister, the government and its supporters did their best to turn the citizens’ attention to the hacker who leaked the information. but eojin was careful enough, and they never found out who he truly is — the hacker remained a mystery.
but not for the m̦̗̜̟͙̮̳̘̺̭̒̀͑̆̂̊͘̕͠͠á̧̛̤͍͉͖͔̗͉͋̋̈̄̏̐͂͜͝ͅt̨̡̨̩̩̖̳̣̘͆̂̽̓̅͗̉͛͒̕͜r͙̮̻̖̲̯̤̫̥̂̎͊̓̾̍̐̚̕͝ͅĭ̡̧̛̩̲͕̲̰̠̹͆̂̒̾͆̇̐̅ͅx̨̳͔̬͖̦͎̪̖̩̽̒̔̀̋̓͌̓̋̇.̢̛̯͚̣͎͈̠̟̩̈̒̀̓͆̊̋̕͝ͅ
he was eighteen years old when they reached out to him, offering an opportunity that he could never refuse: to be a part of their organization. eojin didn’t even know what they did, or how much power and influence the matrix had, but he had heard enough about them to know he had to say yes to their offer. even if he had to move out of the country — which to be quite honest, wasn’t a bad idea after what he did to the government. and of course, moving to japan didn’t sound bad at all. but it felt bad to leave his family like that… not after everything they had done to him.
he gave them the excuse that he was going to japan to study, that he had the chance to study in the shujin university, which was a reference in the whole continent. that way, mrs. yeon and eunsoo couldn’t oppose to his departure. still, there was a heavy feeling on eojin’s conscience. he promised he’d send them money monthly, enough to give them a better life than they had in the past.
when he got to japan, he did apply to the shujin university to study computer programming. he passed the application exam and scored enough to receive a scholarship that covered a hundred percent of his tuition fee. and he also applied for a small job at a retro game shop known as old but gold — after all, his love for games never ceased, in fact, it became one of his addictions. there was no one better than yeon eojin to work at the place. the payment was enough to give eojin a comfortable life, but still wasn’t enough for him to send money to his mother and that was when he started streaming his gaming adventures — he was known for his tetris battle royale live streams. the donations he received from his viewers were finally enough for him to help his family, he could finally send them money and give them a better life.
but of course everything was too good to be true, something had to ruin the cycle of good things happening in eojin’s life.
an accident was all it took to turn his world around.
he doesn’t remember exactly how it happened, all he can remember is waking up in the hospital — the white surroundings almost blinded him, he could remember it like was just yesterday. and despite being confused, completely disoriented, he still managed to understand every single word the nurse told him. the tears ran down his cheeks as he listened, but it only got worse when they told him about the surgery: the accident left him with dozens of broken bones, but the situation of his right leg was way more severe than they had imagined. he had to go through surgery, but for some reason ( one that was no revealed to eojin ) there were no doctors available in the moment — which resulted in a surgery done entirely by androids, under the permission of the nurse that spoke to him.
“it was the best option! if we kept the leg, you’d have to live with constant pain for the rest of your life.”
that man. in eojin’s head, it was thanks to that man that he lost his leg. he told the androids what to do when he could have waited for a surgeon to be available. when he could have waited and asked for eojin’s consent.
also, why the fuck were there no doctors available! what type of hospital didn’t have extra doctors waiting for an emergency? his emergency. his leg could still be there. they were asking to be sued, and that was what eojin did — he sued the hospital for 1) not having extra human doctors to do his surgery, 2) allowing a group of androids do surgery without the proper supervision, 3) amputating one of his limbs without his consent. they paid him a few millions. but suing the hospital didn’t mean he would get his recovery in another hospital.
hell no.
and to make things even worse than before, the nurse that told the androids to amputate his leg was the one designated to take care of him, to help him recover — not only in the hospital but also when he was released to go back home. oh, joy.
with the money he received from the hospital he bought himself the best and most organic-looking prosthetic leg in the market, as well as some others that looked cooler and more robotic — and he would only wear them when going outside, at home he relies on his crutches. and despite the promises that his life would be better and painless after the amputation, eojin still felt pain. a lot of pain. something called ghost pain.
and an extra pain: a nurse he detested. well, at least for now.
ACCESSING: PERSONALITY …
POSITIVE TRAITS: playful, loyal, protective NEGATIVE TRAITS: sarcastic, indifferent, insistent
yeon eojin is often described as being either a big dork or a big brat, and neither of those are wrong. he can be both things, depending on how many cans of grape fanta he has drank — he is addicted. he loves his job at the games shop and also love his job at the matrix, both bring him the two things he loves the most in his life: programming and games. he couldn’t be happier doing anything else. regarding his alignment, he’d say he’s pro-android, even though he doesn’t trust them fully — but that doesn’t stop him from helping them from time to time. in fact, his apartment has become reference for androids that need help blending in with humans ( he’s not a hardware guy, but he will take your identification collar off if you ask nicely ). when it comes to people, he doesn’t care much about them and doesn’t really have a filter when talking to them, he will say whatever is on his mind without worrying about how it’ll affect the people around him. he’s kinda dense. he’s really good with numbers so if you need help with them, he’s your guy. loves tetris and puzzle games way too much, you’ll definitely see him trying to solve random puzzles and riddles when he has nothing else to do. he’s very awkward when it comes to romance, he’ll be very stiff and nervous if he has feelings for someone. he likes sweets way too much. also a big pervert.
… END OF MESSAGE.

2 questions: in the rules section you have this statement-“we do NOT allow bubble rping or cliches.” What do you specifically mean by cliches? Also what kind of androids would you like to see more of?
hello ! that’s a typo we’ve failed to notice, our deepest apologies. we simply meant we do not allow cliques, which is a small close-knit group of people who do not readily allow others to join them. we want to be an inclusive community, where all of our members can talk and interact with other; hope that makes more sense now ! and when it comes to androids, we’d really love to see customer service ( CS+ ) androids, since they can be from a broad variety of different occupations, such as child care, psychological assistance and so on. perhaps education androids ( ED+ ) who work at shujin as we have a few student muses as well. or security androids, both private ( PR+ ) or public ( PS+ ) would be really interesting to see — but of course, we’d love whichever type of android you’d go for !
