Sometimes you need to remind yourself that you were the one who carried you through the heartache. You are the one who sits with the cold body on the shower floor, and picks it up. You are the one who feeds it, who clothes it, who tucks it into bed, and you should be proud of that. Having the strength to take care of yourself when everyone around you is trying to bleed you dry, that is the strongest thing in the universe.

A lot of people discredit Lars as trans because we’ve seen him shirtless, but, looking back at it he doesn’t seem flat chested at all? A guy so skinny wouldn’t have muscles in only his upper chest era, and I know (from daily life that) anorexia is something that can cause the same kind of barley visible chest fat in dfab people. Especially in naturally small brested people. The ‘hand on chest’ gesture was repeated several times by Steven and was a meant to be positive thing, as well. Was Steven just trying to encourage Lars and tell him he’s passing, to where Lars and Steven did it to each other in the end so he could kinda tell Steven it was well meant and worked? And at the end of the day, it’s a kids show as well. If they’d included trans surgery scars or breasts of any size there’d be even more of a riot than when Ruby and Sapphire kissed. I think Rebecca Sugar was implying or hinting towards something here, for sure. Trans Lars is best Lars.

self care tip: if you’re depressed or feeling down and don’t feel like leaving bed, change the sheets on your bed to nice, fresh, clean ones that smell good, and then take a shower or a bath, dress in clean pajamas, and go ahead and get back into bed. the tiny bit of work for the day will make you feel like you accomplished something, and you’ll feel clean and refreshed which will put you in a better state of mind.

Might I direct you to Beauty Queens by Libba Bray, a YA novel in which a plane full of teen beauty pageant contestants crashes on a deserted island. Instead of descending into violent savagery, the girls are able to work together and become more truly themselves than they could in the patriarchal world outside. They repurpose the tools of beauty into tools of survival (and some of them work to keep up their appearances too, because that’s what makes them feel happy, while others decide they’re done with all the pressure to be a certain sort of beautiful.) They fight against evil corporations. Beauty Queens is enthusiastically feminist. (Never fear, the feminism is intersectional, exploring issues of race and sexuality as well as gender.) Also, this book is HILARIOUS, not to mention surprisingly exciting!
