So every fan2colt went crazy about this and this is also beginning to change my worldview.
It's very curious how Colt got memory loss? It's not very in character for him, unlike what happened to Melodie or EMZ. But some people have pointed out that it's not the first time something like this has happened to him (see the gift shop animation).
They're now theorizing that Colt doesn't acknowledge Belle and Sam being his parents because he lost his memory. And I think that's so cool and fucked up and that it works so well with my own HC.
As you know, I wrote that Sam and Belle lost Colt (at the time Eddy) when they catastrophically failed a train heist, resulting in the Goldarm's arrest, and in Eddy's "death".
After that, he woke up from the crime scene, having mutated because of a gem explosion. Injured, he followed the tracks to get help, until he came accross the park, where he was rescues by the Starrs...
And I still had a few problems with this, mostly, how come they don't figure out that that random injured kid, who showed up on the tracks on which one of their trains exploded because of the Goldarm, isn't Eddy himself? Because initially, it's basically Eddy who decided to change his identity himself to "hide" from his parents and start a new life.
But what if they knew. Let's say Eddy loses his memories because of the accident. He instinctually follows the tracks to find help, any help, and comes across the park. The Starrs quickly figure out who he is, and bring him home, to the family he was supposed to be in.
Eventually Eddy comes to his senses, and they all realize that he barely remembers anything from his past. All he has are vague feelings, muscle memory, and the name Colt (I want to keep Colt choosing his own name bc it's cool and I like to think it's a nickname his parents gave him). This actually reassures the Starrs, has he's on "the good side" now, and they now see an opportunity to reshape him. Change his whole being and character into the Starr he was meant to be. Forming him so that he could one day be used to stop his own mother once and for all (because they're fucked up like that.)
So from there, the rest is pratically the same. Colt has no memory of his past, but he still has his shooting skills, charisma etc... And even if he doesn't remember his mother's treatement, he still has this sickening perfectionism and desire for attention. He just can't really pinpoint why, and the Starrs never hesitate to exploit this, as well as his frequent memory losses to groom him even further.
Eventually, when "Colt" is fully formed, he's grown and changed so much, that when they meet again for the first time, his parents don't even recognize him.
The more things progress, the more things get fucked up and I love it. The only thing I doon't really like about this memory loss schtick is that, it kinda removes Colt's agency in staying with the Starrs. If Colt fully remembers what happened to him, he has the full context of the fight between the Goldarm and Starr Park, and has more of a choice into what life he wants for himself. That's why him still deciding to stay in the Starrs out of pure selfishness, despite their evil, is tragic. If Colt doesn't remember, then that means he's pretty much trapped with the Starrs, and has no choice in leaving, which is the point ofc, bit it's less interesting.
But I think the two ideas can still work together.
Anyway what do you think? I think it's so cool to find new ways to mentallly torture that white boy.
