I was thinking about Jewel last night and a few notes that stuck with me were: 

their father was a self proclaimed poet who didn’t have a very good grasp on words and was often lost in his own thoughts. He came up with ‘Adelpha’. Vaguely inspired by the feminine french name “Adelphe”. It was probably just something he heard once and decided he liked. Anything about the name usually comes up as a more feminine take on it, but when their father chose it, he had absolutely no reason as to why.

Their mother just thought it was charming, but preferred to call them ‘Bijou’ or Jewel. She was a maid for a rich family, but took a break after having Jewel, and never went back. Their father didn’t make much, but Jewel took up working odd jobs at an early age to help their finances.

They were always more fond of their mother, and just thought their father was crazy. That was mostly just because of the lack of understanding on mental illness of the time.

' Darling, like this... ' the dragon murmured, pressing cool lips to their opposite, soft, gentle in her expression but nonetheless desiring. Fingertips pressed into their chest and pushed, slowly, until hips were level and even and breaths were stolen. Oh, how she relished their nervous inhales, so enthralled by the doctor, hips pressing downward, rolling slow. She rested ger forehead against theirs, fingers in search of their own--

  Why-ever they agreed to such a thing was beyond them- but she was the only one they’d ever even considered being so close to. She was absolutely enchanting, and it made their breath catch in their throat. They did exactly as she directed, their teeth biting down on their cheek. It was a good thing she reached for their hand, otherwise they’d have no idea what to do with it. With a deep inhale, they offer a low sigh in an attempt to once more steady their breathing.

      “Ah, dear...” At least for now, their only concern was being inadequate.
