I’m gonna be honest. I genuinely don’t get why selfshippers give a single solitary fuck about “doubles”.
I promise you will not get in trouble for dating the same fictional character that someone else is.
I’m in full support of doing what makes you happy. But it cannot be healthy to be so emotionally invested in pretend dating that you feel real emotional distress when someone else likes the same character. At that point it’s beyond just being a fun hobby.
I totally get being autistically obsessed with a character and having a bunch of feelings for them. But you still have to remember that to most people this is just a hobby, and they aren’t going to pose any risk to your relationship with that character.

I think human governments in TF really take Optimus Prime’s empathy for granted.
Imagine if you found a species of (subjectively ugly ass) sapient bugs that live like 2 years and commit new mass atrocities every day. Would you wanna put your life and the lives of your loved ones on the line for them? I don’t think most people would. I don’t even think many heavily left-leaning people would, due to how dangerous in numbers and highly reactive those “bugs” are.
That’s probably how most transformers would realistically see us. Not just the cons, but Autobots and neutrals too. If Optimus wasn’t as empathetic as he is, I think humanity would be fucked ngl.
I realized this might come off as a “humans are inherently bad” aaaa take. But that’s not the point I’m actually trying to make here dw 😅
I’m just trying to imagine how a far more advanced, longer-lived, and physically powerful species would react to tiny aliens who are even more intolerant of each other than they are.
Transformers got some serious beef with each other, but when you take a step back and compare them to humans, they’ve actually started fewer wars than we have. And although they can be racist as fuck, humans are racist as fuck AND sexist as fuck, AND LGBTQ-phobic as fuck. Transformers don’t even have cultural concepts for those last two things 💀
But that isn’t to say humans are inherently evil. I think Optimus, like me, would view us as a young and immature species that is often misguided by corrupt leaders. Not evil. And be fair to humans, our wars don’t typically last longer than recorded history lol.
