kindaichi had always prided himself on being a good boy. he was polite, said his please’s and thank you’s. hell, he shit in the litter box when he was a cat. he was so so so so good.

so WHY were you paying attention to that troublemaker TOBIO. tobio was mean, tobio didn’t play well with others. TOBIO MADE BIG MESSES THAT YOU HAD TO CLEAN UP.

taking your time. precious time that could’ve been spent with kindaichi. over the past week, kindaichi has been sour as a lemon. if he makes a mess, will you coddle and coo over him again?

you’ve noticed his behavior, his sluggishness, his sadness. finally, after he stared at an empty mug on the counter for twenty minutes, debating pushing it off, he went to you.

“pay attention to me. tobio isn’t your only cat. i was here first.” he says, trying not to pout. totally pouting though.

you look at him and coo, shaking your head and wrapping your arms around him.

“oh, kin, i’m so sorry. i’ve just been so wrapped up in helping him accommodate, I didn’t think about you.” you said, and kindaichi nuzzled his face into your neck. you always smelled so good.

“you’ve been so good, being so patient. i only hope tobio can learn a thing or two from you.” you say, and kindaichi purrs. he likes being good, likes being good for you.

you hold him the rest of the day, snuggled up in your bed while tobio sleeps on the couch in the sunlight. kindaichi is fine with sharing, but sometimes he wants you all to himself.
