A slide is a visual aid — and aid can be defined as:

help or support (someone or something) in the achievement of something.

Slide is not there to replace the speaker. If the slide content can be read without the presenter, then we've chosen the wrong app — instead PowerPoint, Microsoft Word could be more appropriate.

Making this mistake is the same as wearing our beach clothes on the job interview at the bank.

Here are the basic rules which always work:

maximum 3 bullet points

words not sentences (less is more)

huge font

slide has to be meaningless without the speake

NEVER, I repeat: NEVER read the slide or read from the paper. I've seen this a couple of times now in the remote era. There's no mistake, everyone knows you're reading. It can't be interesting.

Prepare. Do the work. Practice. Anything less is disrespectful of the audience and yourself.
