“Where did you grow up?”
“A small kingdom in rural France.”
“Well… thats alright but getting across the island by foot would take all day. Vines were really the quickest way to go.” Daisy nodded, “Yes! I did.”
“Well, I guess if you grew up where vines were that common, it makes sense,” Peter conceded.
“Well how else was I supposed to get around?” Daisy asked him with a small shrug.
“Um... walking? Did you grow up in a jungle?” Peter asked, confused.
“Who me? Oh yes. I’m fine! Even if I had fallen it probably wouldn’t have hurt as bad as falling off of the vines back home. You know, usually I have better balance.”
“You swung on vines back in your home?”
“You didn’t see that!” Daisy squealed as she slid a bit on the ice. Now, more properly clothed, she was having a bit more fun in the chill of the winter night.
“I didn’t see anything, I promise. I am just going to randomly ask if you are ok.”
She sighed, shaking her head and walking over to him. Putting her head on his shoulder, she just kind of inhaled before speaking softly. “I know, I know, I’m sorry, Petey. Just a lot of stuff. I missed you, how’ve you been?” Standing up on her tiptoes, she lightly kissed his cheek with a smile.
Peter wrapped his arms around Vi, rubbing her back a little. “You have nothing to be sorry for, kitten. I know your family is horrible. I have be kind of stressed out and don’t know why. Seeing your gorgeous face makes me already feel ten times lighter.”
“Well, I didn’t ask for your fucking opinion, I know I look tired. You would be too if you had to spend two months with my family.” Vitani muttered, crossing her arms and restraining from strangling the person in front of her.
“I was just... wondering if you wanted a nap before picking up your baby girl. I wasn’t trying to upset you, kitten. I figured things had been rough. If it helps, Lila missed her mommy something awful, but I missed her mommy more.”
“No, I swear m’not tired…” he insisted, fighting back a yawn. “There’s just something in my eye. What was it you were saying?”
“I was asking if you wanted me to move so you could lie down,” Peter said, looking concerned.

“Crocheting,” Delilah repeated with an exaggerated frown, giving a small shake of her head, “Yeah, no. Was never my thing. But, definitely color me impressed– I don’t think I’ve ever come across a guy who can sew and crochet… at least, not one who’s happy to spill the beans on his talent.” Though silently happy that she wasn’t going to have to carry anything, or go too far out of her way, she couldn’t help herself wanting to be positive, “You’re sure? I just want to be completely assured you’re gonna be ok carrying all that stuff, with a banjaxed bag. And you know, there are plenty of ways to get your nerdy fix of books without having to subject yourself to the torture of libraries and librarians. Like, if you were inclined to, you could probably bribe a freshman to go for you.”
“Well, I think hiding a talent where you can literally make people things is stupid. I mean, come on. People will go spend ten dollars on a scarf for winter. I will spend six dollars maximum to make at least two in two different colors. The most I waste is time, which isn’t that bad when you get good at it,” Peter said honestly. “I am more than happy to handle my own stuff, but thank you. I also will pass on that bribery advice. I can manage.”
“In that case, it certainly seems like a valuable skill. My Mum tried to teach me when I was younger, but I never had a knack for it. Knitting, on the other hand– I was great at that,” she grinned somewhat proudly, even though she was more than positive if she picked up a pair of knitting needles now, she’d have failed miserably. Gesturing to the bag, she raised a questioning brow, “D’you want me to take any books or anything? I could carry ‘em wherever you’re going for you.” Then, Delilah chuckled and she gave another nod, “I know, right? I can’t count the amount of times I’ve pissed one off, for stupid little things. That’s really why I try to avoid the library.”
“Knitting is cool, too! I am better at crocheting, but I mean, if you can do it, that is awesome,” Peter said with an impressed nod. “Naw, I am good. I am just going to drop the book off at the library and then head back to my dorm. I don’t want to make you go out of your way.” He chuckled as well. “I wish I could do that, but I am far too nerdy.”
“I said most royals, not me specifically. And I do know a prince who has been through that, but still manages to keep his composure, still has impeccable manners. Now, no sleep is something I am very familiar with. I know it’s quite horrible, but it’s still no excuse. I’ve gone more than three weeks without sleeping for more than five minutes at a time and still managed to polite to strangers, until they proved unworthy of it of course. Yes, obviously.”
“Well good for you in all of that. I am glad you can make your parents proud or whatever. And good for you on the fact that you are capable of not dying by barely sleeping for weeks. I am done caring about this conversation. I need to get back to studying so I can get some sleep sometime this week.”

Delilah barely noticed his furrowed brow, and even if she had, she wouldn’t have known what it was for– she never intended to be rude, and was never really able to tell when she was. “Oh, you sew?” She sounded surprised, but the look she gave him was mostly impressed, “Nice. Well, I’m sure your bag will be as good as new soon enough.” Her lips upturned in a grin, then, “I’m glad, in that case. Librarians are such fickle creatures… you never know what’ll piss ‘em off.”
Peter nodded to her question, smiling a little with pride. “I do. I had to learn when I wasn’t sure when or if my dad would remember to get me new clothes when mine became worn out or too small. Knowing your way around a needle and thread means that the pants you might have to wear for three years too long can at least last that long,” he said. He nodded again to her statement, carefully shifting the bag in his arms so the tear was now sideways to prevent anything from falling out. “Right? It’s the weirdest things that will do it, too,” he said.
“Well I am going to let you in on a secret: not everyone had a perfect upbringing. That means manners are the least of their worries when parents are abusive or non-existent. So I would not judge people before you know what they have lived through. As for me, I actually have rather great manners, but the fact of the matter is you caught me in the middle of an extreme study session, so I am done with caring. If you wouldn’t have forgotten your phone, you wouldn’t be in this situation.”
“Nobody had a perfect upbringing. Actually most royals probably had a more miserable upbringing than all the people in their kingdoms combined. But we still keep a smile on our faces and show courtesy to strangers. There is no excuse to be ill-mannered. You have great manners? I am completely failing to see that at all.”
"Unless you can tell me that you have lived through being beaten within an inch of your life, do not ever tell me that you have it worse than all of your subjects. And there is an excuse when you are running on no sleep for the past 72 hours. You are failing to see that right now because I am not showing it right now."
“No, no- well, sort of. Not every person but that’s not what I meant. You all just lack… all types of etiquette. It’s like the people here were all raised in barns. Which I know may actually be true for some of the people here, but it doesn’t mean they have to act like it.”

“No, I really don’t think it was.”
“So you find like literally every person in the school annoying?”
