Two months before the end of my trip, my tablet didn’t want to work properly. Now I’m back to France so I’ll post more pics very soon. But while you are waiting you can follow me on INSTAGRAM ! With my cousin Florence, we went to Rotorua to discover the amazing geothermal activity in this region. First, we relaxed in some thermal pools, the water coming from a boiling river. Then we visited Wai-O-Tapu park and it wonderful colors, steam fumerol, sulphur vent and bubbling pools.

Let's start it again. New car, new bed thanks to Derek (thank you so much..) and.. new adventure ! My cousin Florence from France just joined me for a 8 day road trip on the north island. Today we visited the Coromandel Peninsula, not the best weather but when you are in a good company, you don't mind 😁
So my motto now... "Keep smiling even if it's raining on your life and that you have to walk.. !" 😜😂
This unfortunate adventure with the car was finally resolved thanks to Ryan, the amazing carpenter that built the bed in the car. I will be grateful for a long time.. Peter, and Julie & Grant, the lovely couple who are living in Napier also supported me a lot. I was also so glad to catch up with my long time friends from France Caroline and Lloyd in Taupo before going back to Gisborne. Thank you so much my friends for your help, support and for making me laugh in this situation.
Last week was a big adventure too ! But with the car this time.. It's only after I went up and down hill for a while on gravel and sealed roads that a problem appeared on the engine. The head gasket was in a really bad condition. So I headed back to Gisborne to give the car back ! Bye bye beautiful Subaru Legacy... 😢 I could have enjoyed little moments with you anyway 😊
The Lake Waikaremoana Great Walk on 4 days was a challenge for me. Day 1: I only walked 2h30 (6.3 km) to get used to my new boots and to the weight of my 15kg bag. There was nobody on the Waiharuru campsite where I stopped.. Such a paradise. Day 2: 6h (14.7 km) to Korokoro through the forest and on the shore of the lake. I spent time with Ross, a Kiwi who was discovering again his country after few years away from home. We went to the Korokoro Falls for a cold swim (not me). I also met again 3 French guys from the freecamp the day before and who did the track in 2 days Day 3: 5h15 (11.2 km) to the Panekiri Hut. I finally managed well this very steep part with so many steps.. In the hut i'be met Michel and Jo, a French couple in retirement who gave me some advice on what to do in NZ Day 4: 3h (8.8 km) to the Onepoto car park. I went down with the energetic French couple!
Lake Waikaremoana.. It's the first Great Walk that I've done in New Zealand : 41 km (a small part was closed) from Whanganui Hut to the entrance of Onepoto track by myself with a 15kg bag.. I have decided to do it anti-clockwise and thus to finish the walk by the Panekiri Range, the steep part, with a lighter bag (13-14kg). But it wasn't a quiet good idea because the side of the Panekiri that I've climbed was steeper and have lots of stairs ! 😂
Three weeks ago, for my first stop I went to Napier, the capital of Art Deco in New Zealand. It's also a peaceful place where you would like to stay and relax.. I finally relaxed few days in the Gray family that I've met in September 2016. I was seated next to Julie in the plane between Airlie Beach and Brisbane in Australia. It's in New Zealand that we had time to discover more about each other. They also introduced me to their friends from Holland, Margaret and Ian.
