I recently made a decision to only buy secondhand clothes. It’s already proved hard because our culture is based around materialism. Styles change so quickly and even though they come and go, fits, colors and other slight variances occur that you won’t be looking good enough. This is marketing from the fashion industry! And aren’t they good at it? My reasoning behind this choice is more anti-consumerism than pro-environment, and I think it could lead to some soul finding.
Btw, still buying undergarments new, for good reason. But I have enough of everything for a while.
Day3 of minimalism challenge: today I cleaned my digital footprint! I got my emails down from 775 to 80, reorganized/deleted apps, and deleted 50+ pictures on my phone. Content with the day but this category could be so many different things that I could work on it for months!!
Day1 minimalist challenge: stay offline Well, day 1 was yesterday, but I couldn't post because that would defeat the purpose haha. So I sort of completed the challenge... I was doing homework for a little bit which required me to use the Internet, but I won't count that. But during my homework session I got super bored, completely forgetting about my challenge. I went on fb for 5 minutes before remembering and shutting my computer off. So I would say it was an ok attempt because I didn't do anything else that day.
Kitchen organizing: My mom has collected recipe magazines and cookbooks over many years. And since she doesn't cook often, she let me go through them. I've been ripping out pages of the magazines, and filing them in a folder, then getting rid of the rest of the magazine. This eliminates most of the space that ads and filler take up in magazines anyways. I eventually plan to scan the clippings so I can have electronic copies of everything, which is usually how I cook. I also organized the cook books into keep and garage sale. She has collected tens of these mini cook books, so there were many to go through. Feeling accomplished today for finishing the task :)
I'll start tomorrow :)
Why Minimalism?
Save Money- In the beginning it may seem as though you are spending heaps of money but  by the end you will be saving more than you know
Stress Free-This can help save you lots of stress because minimalist livin’ is simple livin’
Clutter-less-The whole reason for becoming a minimalist is to declutter your life, your house and  your mind.Â
Environmentally Friendly- If you choose to go full out and become a true minimalist, your way of living could have a helpful effect on the environment.
Freedom- More time to do the things you love rather than stress about life
Quality Possessions- Â Quality over Quantity is a huge part of this life style
Aesthetically Pleasing- Your house and wardrobe will become visually pleasingÂ
More Time- To spend with kids, friends, family, to workout, start a hobby, learn a language, the possibilities are endless
Healthier Mind and Body- You will have more time and money to put in to help  better yourself
These are just some of the countless ways minimalism is a great way of life. While its not for everyone, the few who do brave the process will be rewarded in time.
