John Doe, previously called Kasey Krueger is a young man from Springwood, Ohio. He was a child in the local orphanage since he was about six years old, this being after the death of his mother and the belief that his father had been murdering children. Despite the fact that it was ruled he did not, the court demanded his own child be put somewhere safer. ...not that the old orphanage was particularly safe, and even after his biological father was killed by outraged parents, the boy was still kept in his hometown. Eventually his memories of his father and witnessing him kill his mother were repressed, leaving him a blank slate.
He was probably only ten when the first round of kids started dying in their sleep. It happened every few years in increasingly bizarre circumstances... but it culminated when Kasey himself reacher teenage years. He was in a foster home, still in Springwood, when those kids of every age started dying around him until he was the only one left. He’d had horrifying dreams of a burnt man who sparked vague memories, but nothing more. Parents started to lose it, started to blame this poor orphan kid on why all their children had been killed off. None of them knew he was that Krueger’s son, even at that point–– likely because they had all remembered the child being taken from that home as a girl, or at least presenting as one. As they became attuned with the crazy reality, they assumed he was in cahoots with Freddy.
And then, not knowing what was going to happen to him, he tried to avoid his death by staying awake... but one unfortunate night of sleep left him standing in front of the monster and then running far, far out of Springwood for the first time in his life. As Freddy was looking for his child, and sensed something about this young man he sent him out unwittingly into the next biggest city in search of what was already in front of him. All of that of course was erased as Kasey’s memory was, when he hit his head on a rock and lost all his memories.
The teen shelter called him John Doe, gave him to a psychologist that many called Miss Maggie. He’d met a few nice people... but he was always afraid of sleep, afraid of being chased. He tried to stay awake yet again, but it only left him exhausted; with a strange dream from Maggie and himself, they were set off back to Springwood, unknowingly leading three outsider children to their deaths.
Everyone noticed the citizens of Springwood had completely lost it, but John was smart enough to pick up the clues on Freddy, knowing this was indeed the monster that had haunted him. After more digging, digging he thought he needed to do int he orphanage and the school, he found out about the missing child, the child taken away from Freddy. He knew it was him. Maggie was not so sure... but as the others from the teen shelter started dying off they had nothing to lose. John found himself able to maneuver between dream realities, but was soon completely alone in that dream realm with Freddy.
“I know who I am now.”
“Really?”
“I know why you let me go.”
“Do you think I’m your Daddy? You’re wrong!”
And suddenly his fear of heights is used against him.
“I only let you live long enough to bring my daughter back. She’s going to take me to a whole new playground!”
Poor John, now flooding with memories of Kasey, could only get out part of a sputtered reply, cringing to say that he was Freddy’s daughter... that he’d once been considered Katherine Krueger... but he still hit the ground. No spikes, no nothing. Just another bump to the head.
Freddy would have to start from scratch. Use a new method now that he knew his son was under his nose and in his grasp. Now he had to coax John... and he’d go through that fucking psychiatrist and the bitchy kickboxer girl to do it if he had to.
