Can't remember if I sent this ask or if I chickened out and closed out of it: Has anyone ever tried to keep a Collahopper as a pet?
Also may I draw this little abomination?
It's probably be attempted in one of the more bandit-y settlements. I can't imagine it would go terribly well, though.
How is the fauna on the planet? I guess they're going to be mostly amphibious or fish, but are there any notable land mammals or avian creatures?
Oh oh oh and do you have any aquatic plants? I mean, of course you do, but are there any notable ones?

Thanks for the question! Since most of the planet is marshy, aside from the cities, there isn’t a lot of mammalian life. In general, you’re not going to find any kind of furry creatures aside from maybe pets; nothing that gets bogged down with wet fur is going to survive in the Petrichor-7 wild. Most of the wildlife is amphibious, but the larger bodies of water can contain a wide variety of fish. There are a lot of varieties of frogs, some of which are large enough to pose a bit of a threat.
Most of the wildlife won’t bother you, but there are some things to look out for when travelling between cities. The main roads have scares to keep them away but you’ll find wetland drifters (like the ones from BL2) further away from the three main roads, and some large frogs such as Collahoppers may try to attack people off the main roads. In ones or twos they rarely cause issue, but larger groups can pose more of a problem.
Collahoppers don’t deal much damage, but make a high pitched noise to alert others when provoked, so it’s easy to get swarmed if you aren’t careful. Their spit may also slow you down. these are just one of the more dangerous species in the marshlands, and we suggest you stick to the roads.
As for flora, most plants lay close to the ground as the soggy soil doesn’t provide a lot of support for taller plants. The only tall plants you’ll find are mostly water reeds, which can grow far taller than most of the plants. Some larger species can even reach up to the height of the floating highways. The majority of plants are mosses and dense bushes, but some leafy ferns can be found in areas where the water is shallower.
Some smaller settlements grow a variety of bog mushrooms with... interesting effects. These are hard to come by in larger places. Around that sort of area, some other less interesting mushrooms are farmed alongside more regular crops. Crops that can grow in waterlogged soil are preferred as it means well work need to be put in to drain the soil before it can be used.
How do the people combat potential flooding and mudslides?
I imagine that there's a very effective drainage system in the cities, but what about small towns and villages?

Cities and larger towns have extremely robust drainage systems in place that prevent flooding, and most large buildings have an emergency pump to get water out just in case. Some of the larger drainage canals in the biggest cities are actually tourist attractions and landmarks of sorts, and can look surprisingly pretty. Some tourists like to float paper boats and such down them, which looks fun but can actually lead to some serious blockages during the height of tourist season, so please don't do this!
Smaller towns tend to have pretty good drainage and villages too, since drainage is and always has been one of the first things considered when building on the planet- that being said, the systems there are often imperfect. It's more common to have an emergency pump or just a large bucket in your home in smaller places, and electricals and sockets tend to be placed higher up the wall/upstairs to prevent damage. Minor flooding can generally be kept out with sandbags and such.
A lot of the smallest, more bandit-y villages or settlements are out in the marshlands sort of areas, so generally flooding is circumvented there by building up on high struts and platforms rather than having a large drainage system.
The geography of Petrichor 7 isn't very hilly and is mostly flat, and generally care is taken to not build in areas with a risk of mudslides in the first place, so it's not a very large issue.
((Were this an actual in game location, I imagine running around and turning on pumps or unblocking a drainage canal in the city would probably be a mission you could get. A sewer level with no small number of toilet jokes.))

Custom umbrellas are a popular gift on Petrichor-7. Rainy Day Customs is the go to company for specialist designs, making amazing umbrellas with custom patterns, clear windows, water reactive materials and more. A complex design can be expensive, but it's a gift that will absolutely be useful. More expensive customs are made to last and are normally given on more special occasions like significant birthdays and anniversaries.
They also make custom rain coats, but they aren't as popular.
Petrichor-7 Trivia #4
Petrichor-7 has made huge leaps and bounds in waterproof tech, largely out of necessity. Almost any tech you buy on Petrichor-7, if it's been made there, will be waterproof by default.
Bayou Marshland: Easily traversable by hover vehicle or one of the floating highways, courtesy of maliwan hover tech.
The Bayou Marshland is a boggy stretch of land between Stratus and Nimbus city. The soggy nature of the land makes it near impossible to traverse in a normal vehicle as wheels would just sink into the ground.
For a long time the only practical way to get from one place to another was to use a hover vehicle, but soon after Maliwan gained an established presence they built a highway between the two cities. Not a regular highway- one low to the ground would flood constantly, and a regular raised highway would sink. But courtesy of Maliwan hover tech, a trio of floating highways run between the two cities. They require constant upkeep to remain safe, but if one fails, at least there is another two.
If you don't feel like using the highway, it's still perfectly traversable using a hover vehicle like the old days. But the marshland isn't free of nasties, so take some form of protection with you.

During the period when Maliwan were a fairly new presence on Petrichor-7, they launched a promotional range of 7 umbrella designs available only on Petrichor-7 as a promotional stunt. Even years later these umbrellas are very popular and are often bought as souvenirs by tourists.

Stratus City: A peaceful city for those who like to take it slow. Thunderstorms are more common here.
Out of the two big cities on Petrichor-7, Stratus is the less busy of the two. A large outer portion of the city is a residential area with shopping districts and businesses further into the inner city. Thin side streets lead onto and connect wide glass covered main streets together and are normally well signposted to keep you going in the right direction.
As opposed to Nimbus's wide canals, Stratus's drainage canal system is made up of a spiderweb of thin streams that run off into the surrounding swamps or ponds.
It's a slow paced city that is more suited to settling down than tourism, which is just fine- tourists need to pass through anyway, which means it gets just as much out of the tourist industry as any other place.
Concepts for an average side street in Stratus City. Small streets like this don't tend to have glass coverings overhead, but you can see a few at the sides that lead to main streets.
Stratus Outskirts: For those who don't like the city's hustle and bustle, this is the place to be. Boasts a wealth of good takeaways.
The outskirts of Stratus city are significantly less densely populated than the main city, and things go on here at a slow and steady pace. The relaxed nature of things here leads a lot of people to settle here with their families. It has a lot more open areas than the main city, dotted with parks and ponds.
With it being the first city-like place near Rivulet Station, it's well accustomed to tourism and lots of tourists will tell you the first thing they ate on Petrichor-7 was takeout from the Stratus Outskirts. One place in particular, Pitter Patter takeaway, is somewhat famous for awesome tempura.
